Lady Gaga and Rihanna accused of posting "transphobic" tweets

Because they didn't explicitly mention transwomen in their Women's Day tweets.

Lady Gaga said "We are the womb" which infuriated TRAs because of all the transwomen who don't have wombs. Lots of women have had hysterectomies and don't have wombs either but I don't see them throwing screaming tantrums on social media.

Rihanna's tweet involved an illustration of a woman pressing the button on a blender full of dicks. And of course this is transphobic because of the bounty of so-called 'female dick' out there...

Ha! Wonder if anyone could do up buttons/shirts of Lady Gs quote, and wear them in homage to our fav singer, nothing bigot-y about thatSmile

SnibbleAgain · 09/03/2018 17:43

I had a look at lady gaga's tweet responses as well and wow her fans are keen... Scary keen.

I very much doubt she looks at it, I hope she doesn't too much, I think it would mess with her head too much if she did!

Some v creepy men on there.

SnibbleAgain · 09/03/2018 17:44

Yes I remember when she first came out there was a lot of rumour that she was a man. I can't remember why now. Maybe her name is a bit drag-queeny?

SnibbleAgain · 09/03/2018 17:46

"Glam diva Lady Gaga (real name Stefani Joanne Germanotta) has joined the ranks of female celebrities reputed to be "hermaphrodites." A less subtle variant of the rumor simply claims that Lady Gaga is a man who dresses as a woman (i.e., a transvestite). Other celebrities to face these rumors include Megan Fox, Ciara, and Jamie Lee Curtis."

The fuck?

SneakyGremlins · 09/03/2018 17:46

It was because of a costume she wore that left her with a crotch bulge Hmm

IntelligentYetIndecisive · 09/03/2018 17:48

What @nauticant said. With bells on.

A high profile TRA/MRA target means more people seeing what a bunch of dicks they are.

Peak trans can't come soon enough....

AssassinatedBeauty · 09/03/2018 17:48

It's because she dared to dress unconventionally, speak her mind, write her own music, not be conventionally attractive and be confident about it. Hence she must be a man as no woman could be like that. It's misogyny 101.

SnibbleAgain · 09/03/2018 18:19

Agree Assassinated.

Woman who steps outside gender norms must be a hermaphrodite? Or a man? Fucks sake.

SunsetBeetch · 09/03/2018 18:23

I just hope they don't get pressured into grovelling apologies for this. Angry

SnibbleAgain · 09/03/2018 18:28

looking at gaga's feed briefly, there are so so many comments, i think anything against it will be drowned out.

if anyone decides to write opinion pieces about it / the media pick it up that may change I guess.

Fekko · 09/03/2018 18:30

That's not two women I'd want to pick a fight with!

LaContessaDiPlump · 09/03/2018 18:31

Has anyone seen the Rihanna artist's website? It's rather wonderful. I particularly like this one.

www.venuslibido.co.uk/product/tea-is-my-only-warmth

and this one, but it's sad.

Fekko · 09/03/2018 18:32

Have they bit seen the lady gaga video for - I forget the song but it was the one with Beyonce and they poison a lot of people. Jumping around in a teeny bikini she was.

SneakyGremlins · 09/03/2018 18:33

Fekko Telephone Grin I love it

Weebo · 09/03/2018 18:58

I'm glad to see nither of them are rising to it.

Rihanna's fans are so hilariously over it. :o

ProfessorSprout · 09/03/2018 19:42

I’m pissed off that Asia Dillon has posted this today. I respect them for not being referred to as he or she, but I think they are way off with this post.

OlennasWimple · 09/03/2018 19:53

Maybe Lady Gaga understands that being gender queer isn't the same as being trans?

Ereshkigal · 09/03/2018 19:54

I respect them for not being referred to as he or she

Can I ask why? Genuine question.

thebewilderness · 09/03/2018 20:00

Material reality has a well known transphobic bias.

thebewilderness · 09/03/2018 20:03

3rd rule of misogyny: Women speaking for themselves are exclusionary and selfish.
I may have to change that to "female women" just to avoid any confusion.

SomeDyke · 09/03/2018 20:10

'The Future is Female' is transexclusionary? Now that does not work, because logically you could be saying that all females (including transwomen if you accept they are female) need a boost. Saying this is trans exclusionary only excludes transwomen if you also accept that transwomen are male.........Although then it also includes transmen, so you are only excluding the non-female trans folk! So, males excluded whats the problem with that! :-)

I'm off to see if I can find a badge with that on, since I think I lost my original one (along with my 'every woman can be a lesbian' badge ).

Expecting to see a claim that electronics is actually transexclusionary because is refers to male and female connectors. My, if you went for a trans-inclusive version of electronics, you'd have a problem trying to recharge your mobile, that's for sure! (Could be an innie, could be an outie, why are you asking you BIGOT, just bring lots of cables with all possible permutations then ask your genderfluid phone what their gender is today before you try to charge it!)......................

IcedPurple · 09/03/2018 20:28

These "transactivists " are raging narcissists.

Let's say purely for the sake of argument that transwomen really are women (I don't believe that of course, but just for the sake of argument). What percentage of the entire female population do they make up? Much, much less than 1%. A tiny, tiny minority. So even if we do accept trans women as 'women' why should every single thing any woman or feminist says have to be 'trans inclusive'? Why does everything have to be centred on them?

Oh, silly me, now I remember. It's because they're men. So it's all about them. All the time. Even on International Women's Day.

TerfyMcTerface · 09/03/2018 20:32

Everything is transphobic. Everything.

^This. But especially women. Our very existence is transphobic.

ProfessorSprout · 09/03/2018 20:36

@Ereshkiga I have read some interviews that she/they have done and Asia is one of the first ungendered (is that the right terminology) characters on an American programme (Billions). I respect that she wants to be valued on her skills as an actor not as a female actress.

It’s a valid question you’ve asked me. I’ve only recently educated myself on the transgender self ID and it really concerns me. So I’m torn by the view that people like Asia to be treated fairly and neutrally (despite their sex or gender ID) but I’m not in agreement that “not all women have vaginas...”quote that she’s made. Women are women because of their experiences of periods, pregnancy, labour, breastfeeding and menopause. Only a woman can experience those things.

AngryAttackKittens · 09/03/2018 21:26

What's funny about the Rihanna thing is that she's tried to be nice to TRAs in the past and reach some sort of compromise, and I'm sure that she wasn't picturing lady dicks when she posted that, but certain TIMs see anything referring to men and immediately assume that it's aimed at them.

Hmm, I wonder why that could be, huh?
