I mean, wtf does that mean?

I'm not sure if I can cope with watching the debate. I can't stand Kay Burley for starters!

I leave it with you lot. Smile

WPUK got a name check and a Twitter block comment.

shedalight · 07/03/2018 16:37

From Kellie Maloney - that well known boxing promoter who tried to strangle their wife and was emotionally abusive when they were married.

RunFarRunFree · 07/03/2018 16:38

Yes, happy to dead name when it comes to having one to raise KM up in society.

Why the hell is equality for women something that should be debated? How can feminism possibly have gone too far, what does that even mean?

It's dog whistle bollocks for their viewers to nod along with, making sure that women know that men don't think they should get too uppity. What a horrible way to mark 100 years of suffrage and IWD.

Melamin · 07/03/2018 16:45

There seem to be loads of Twitter comments telling her she looks good Confused and one about going to the loo and wearing tights Confused Confused

RunFarRunFree · 07/03/2018 16:51

Overall a useful hour of televised discussion.

SnibbleAgain · 07/03/2018 16:52

Is this for IWD?

Collidascope · 07/03/2018 16:54

Sure, the 85000 women who are raped every year should just be delighted that they live in a country where women have been fully liberated. As should the 2 women a week who are murdered by a partner. Definitely no misogyny engrained into this culture, thank god.

I was thinking, imagine if you turned that around with macho men? But then I thought, presumably some will say that that is what's happening with Times Up! Grr... there's always a backlash. One step forward. Two steps back.

There was a thread in AIBU about this earlier that was deleted. Apparently women objecting to a TIM (who has admitted to DV in the past) representing them wasn't in good faith or something.

Counter arguments ran the usual gauntlet of TWAW and TW are just like disabled/black/lesbian women. Hmm

shedalight · 07/03/2018 17:39

I started watching and thought - 5 women on the panel talking about equality / women's issues and thought, 'that's good'.

And then the 1st person from the audience asked to speak was Kellie Maloney. Their contribution (apart from their own personal difficult journey and the earth shattering revelation that women are treated differently to men) was to complain about some women not accepting her as a real woman (naming a Woman's Place UK for being horrid on twitter).

It was a little microcosm of the 'all about me, narcissistic, self promotion approach' that so many trans activists adopt. Utterly tedious and contributing nothing. I stopped watching..

tobee · 07/03/2018 18:01

On the hand one wants wide coverage of the debate (especially trans issues) but it, of course, gets served up with a dollop of entertainment and titillation. Angry
