Women’s March - I got it so wrong !

So I need to get something off my chest:

To all of the posters on last years women’s march thread who i berated because I couldn’t understand how marching here in the UK could possibly help women’s rights in any real way -

(I was cross about how posters were calling each other brave for marching when there were (are) women abroad who do incredibly brave things in the face of horrendous regimes)

I AM SO SO SORRY. I was wrong.

Women’s voices desperately need to be heard, everywhere. Including right here in the UK.

The misogyny of the current Labour Party is horrifying, and I think mumsnet has helped to shine a real light on how bad it is, and how women are the underclass even here in the UK.

Thank you all for your posts! Please keep going!

Hatties solidarity!

If you happen to be anywhere within travelling distance of London, and fancy a march this Saturday 10 March, it's Million Women Rise - it's a lot of fun and is very welcoming.

Thanks ArcheryAnnie

I have definitely reached the point where I feel I need to get involved and do something to help raise our voices up.

Unfortunately my circumstances are that my DH works away a lot, and eldest has SN, which means getting to and from events is usually restricted to during school time and around my pt job. Imagine if all the women who couldn’t physically get to these events because of caring responsibilities, or work, or access to travel etc could be present - there would easily be millions.

I’m very grateful for all of you who can get there, and do get there to these events and marches (which is why I felt i owed everyone an apology for getting it so wrong last time!)

I very much see marches as a joy rather than a duty (and when I don't see them as a joy, I don't go), so don't worry at all! They will still be there (and alas, probably more desperately needed) when you do ever find you have a bit more time for yourself.

(And in the meantime - MN...)

Hatties

What a great post !!!

So lovely of you! And Im in a similar boat - for various reasons, including family disability not able to do as much as I would like....

And there is lots you can do ... posting on here... talking to friends... raising questions in other forums....

Your voice is MORE important than ever! So glad you are using it....

Labour aren't making good decisions. But for me personally, I'd rather them than a Tory

HattiesBackpack · 07/03/2018 00:13

Yeah, we are amazing

Another for Hattie.

Labour have made it impossible for me to vote for them. I have always voted for them in the past. Every single time.

There is nothing more important to me than my, and my daughter's rights. He's 10 and she has no idea. She's so protected. This is the hill I will die on.

Terftastic · 07/03/2018 00:52

Blood hell - She's 10 not he. What a fucking ironic typo!!
