Feminism: Sex and gender discussions

Why are Pippa Bunce and Bearded Alex not celebrated as pushing the boundaries of being a man?

Feeling rather dumb but I don't get this...

Why aren't these two - both fully-intact men (yup, feel like Im talking like a racehorse breeder!) "pushing the boundaries of what it means to be a man"? Surely this is what they are actually doing... in preTrans-Wonderland?

As a feminist, this is something I would truly celebrate - even David Beckham in his skirt was something to celebrate....

Instead of which I feel invaded and minimalised.....

I genuinely DONT understand why we can't have a movement celebrating the wonderfulness of a wide range of how men present themselves....Nor why this argument has not been used by "people in power" whether powerful people (women probably!) in media, business, politics and other arenas....There are some fab strong intellectual successful women out there....

Picklemepopcorn I so agree! If you fancy posting pics, I would welcome it - Im not so tech-literate...

Because bullying women into accepting boundary violations is much easier than expecting men to accept changes to their definition of masculinity.

TallulahWaitingInTheRain · 21/02/2018 20:10

Yup. The boundaries of being a man are very carefully policed.

Men are an elite group. You have to be born into manhood but you also have to demonstrate worthiness of it through shows of dominance etc.

People like Pippa Bunce remain men despite being occasionally women because their appropriation of womanhood is so clearly a display of dominance.

I could be wrong about this but I think it is because of the sloppy way the law is written they are entitled to be treated as whatever gender they claim to be, and they claim woman is a gender.
There is an item in maybe telegraph that a police officer who has a fetish for cross dressing is now gender fluid and brings his fetish to work.
Sloppily written laws endanger people by inviting predators.

Mouthandtrousersall · 21/02/2018 21:52

The law is begin written by trans people, they are getting exactly what they want, it is wide open on purpose.

We are all being groomed by Stonewall et al. It's so obvious once you get to the peak.

Stonewall and Pips wrote this. Expect this to be adopted around the world imminently. Men in the ladies loos, it's all wonderful free expression.

JustHooking · 21/02/2018 21:52

Alex just seems to be an attention seeking fucker
I quite like his style and I would celebrate him if he was pushing the boundaries of what it means to be a man
Pippa, imo, is more disturbing. Looks much more like a fetish. And is in a powerful position so can force compliance

Mouthandtrousersall · 21/02/2018 21:57

Pip says

“advice I would give to someone that’s interacting or soon will be interacting with a transgender person in the workplace is to read the guide… and be open, honest, and if you have questions ask the person.”

So if you have questions about being groomed, ask the groomer.

busyboysmum · 21/02/2018 22:03

Yes I completely agree.

As the mother of amazing and varied boys I think we should be pushing the boundaries of masculinity. Not this regressive nonsense.

I just think it's all going to implode. I'm hoping sooner rather than later. And without too many damaged people coming out the other end.

AskBasil · 21/02/2018 22:09

Because men are perfect and need no changing, their boundaries are just exactly where they should be, thank you very much

TheButterflyOfTheStorms · 21/02/2018 22:15

If you're open, honest and ask questions, you'll get fired. On Twitter, you'll get threatened with murder and rape.

Mouthandtrousersall · 21/02/2018 22:27

My two boys/young men are a concerned about this and are a bit peaked.

One of them has long hair in a bun and a heart shape face and when we go out together the waiter says "what can I get you girls....."

He gets randomly assaulted if he is in town at night and has to watch where he walks.

On a sadder note his lesbian friend at school thought she had to become a man and started chest binding and was in agony as a result.

Excellent summation Tallulah.
