metro.co.uk/2018/02/20/transgender-beautician-pushed-police-officer-onto-tube-tracks-four-bottles-prosecco-7327703/

Interested to hear other people's thoughts on this story. It seems that a lot of weight appears to be given to the fact that the policeman pushed this person in the chest area, not realising that they had had surgery. However, the judge's statement fully supports the police officer's actions which I think is positive.

Would a police officer be allowed to push a woman "defensively" and would that contribute to the sentence?

The reporting also seems to be leaning towards making it v clear that this is not someone who has had full surgery, it seems to be "just" a breast augmentation.

The usual applies of course to the fact that this has been reported and probably goes down in the stats that a "woman" committed this violent crime.

Very good point about the stats and quite an eye opener for me as it shows the strength and aggression of a man rather than a woman.

It’s says she’d had surgery but not that she was recovering from surgery; is that then relevant?

Callmejudith · 21/02/2018 12:13

Yes true, how strong (and of course aggressive) would you need to be to be able to push a policeman that far? A policeman who would have had defence training too.

The court heard she has 39 convictions for 62 offences, mainly for theft and violence, and was fined in May last year for racially aggravated harassment.

Hmm enlightening.

Gender Identity Watch picked up on this when the trial was happening last year and links to The Sun for more info.

As it is a suspended sentence and Bregazi has a 10 year history of offending it'll be interesting to see if this will stop Bregazi offending again or not.

I do not want this person's crime recorded as committed by a woman. Thank goodness the police officer is all right.

I have been totally distracted by a story further down the page though of a suspected drug dealer being held by Essex police until he does a poo and releases the suspected evidence - 34 days and counting Shock blimey when he does go the evidence is going to end up blasted into the next county.

scurryfunge · 21/02/2018 12:59

Yes, a police officer would be taught to perform a double palm heel strike if someone is moving towards them in an aggressive and threatening way. Usually accompanied by shouting "get back".

PhelanThePain · 21/02/2018 13:00

Is he still holding on blind? Shock I read about him last week and thought he was bound to give up any day. Wow.

MrsJoshDun · 21/02/2018 13:03

39 convictions for 62 offences and still doesn't go to prison.

Mental health issues, depression and drugs issues and gets the green light for breast surgery. I despair.

PhelanThePain · 21/02/2018 13:06

Indeed. This person has had 39 previous chances to live by societies rules. And yet they still get a suspended sentence. Baffling.

I am slightly uncomfortable with picking up on crimes, just because they are perpetrated by transgender people, because obviously doing the same for Muslim or black people would be unacceptable.

However, I don't think that is what is happening here is it? There are many issues with this crime and the way it is being reported. Very few 'women' would have the strength to push a male police officer onto a train track. The issue of this crime potentially being recorded as a 'woman' perpetrator. The fact that this 'woman' already has a string of crimes to their name. And the fact that if this person, who had the strength to push a male police officer onto a railway, had gone to jail (which they may do in the future), they and others may well campaign for them to go to a female prison.

So I don't think it's just a case of picking up on these stories for 'look all transgenders are evil' purposes.

Sorry, I know no one has said that on this thread, but I often have this 'replace trans with muslim' thing going on in my head.

BlindYeo · 21/02/2018 13:17

Yes Phelan! That has to be really bad for one's gut, surely. Sorry to derail, OP.

Back on topic, transcrimeuk.com has a page on him transcrimeuk.com/2017/11/30/paris-bregazzi/
this site is so on the ball - who runs it? It says The court also heard Bregazzi had an “appalling” record of attacks on public transport, including attacks on staff and commuters at Highgate Station, East Finchley Station and Kings Cross Station

Is identifying as trans actually some kind of deliberate strategy for this sort of person to try and get more lenient sentencing?

Another Paris as well. What is it with that name?

0hCrepe · 21/02/2018 13:21

If you’re going to identify as a woman you should at least have the decency to behave like one.
