That thread on people not being able to speak out at work really scared me.

If you're reading, James Kirkup, thank you for writing this article. You're a good 'un.

Brilliant! Very clear.

I particularly like the little bind he's put the TRAs in: if they act in their usual arseholic way they prove his point. If they don't, they've been forced to softpedal their hatred for a change. Smile

It’s so lovely to read something that allows you to breathe isn’t it?

For those who usually take the everything is fine and disagreement is bigotry line on this issue, I'd like to ask if they think that MPs being too scared to speak publicly on this issue is OK, and if so why they think that's OK.

Excellent article, maybe it will reach some of the people who refuse to listen to the same points when a woman makes them.

What a great article. Telling it exactly how it is. Great to have it in the Spectator. Tories will read it and recognise how shit the Labour Party is on this issue. We need everyone onside.

It's a great article and does something very important. It says to the right "this is also your baby, what should happen now?"

This needs to be read by MPs, particularly Tory ones.

Yes! Plus, of course, he's a bloke. So he'll get kid gloved anyway.

Great article. I can’t believe how far this has gone under the radar. The only place that seems to be talking about it is here.

Good on you James Kirkup if you’re reading Flowers

it's a good article
I have finally written to my MP (previously wrote in 2016)- the silencing of debate is sinister and I think they need to hear from their consituents- we vote for them after all- it's US they shoud be worrying about pissing off.

But also Jolyon has got involved and others are commenting off thread so you can also just search for the words 'James Kirkup' (not the twitter account) and see the comments that come up.

So why do we never hear from the trans side in papers? Lots of trans people are eloquent writers yet for all the people opposing their rights yell about being silenced, we never hear from those allegedly doing this “silencing”.

I'd like to know if a woman retweets it, whether she gets more stick than he has, so far.
