How do I respond to this.. or should I just not bother?

This is a quote from a man who posted it in FB in response to my pointing out the removal of the Grid Girl jobs was actually a business decision and nothing to do with pressure from nasty feminists...

"As feminists are forever telling us, not all of them are women, therefore I'm not making this about women, I'm simply making a point regarding the feminists movements affect on everything in society. (Having said that, I have always thought that a man voting for feminism is rather like a turkey voting for Christmas)

Modern feminism has created a toxic environment to which organisations like F1, boxing, etc are being influenced into making changes to make their image seem more ethically viable, however this wouldnt have been seen as a necessary option if it wasn't for the constant whining from the feminist movement. The fact is that the majority of women are as fed up of it all as the guys are! The majority of women who I have spoken to are against these changes, the girls who this affects are unhappy about the prevention of their right to work, it's only those who are affected so who on earth it really pleasing?"

If this is just a random person and not a friend/family member/colleague, then I'd just simply respond correcting the factual inaccuracies and then disengage. This kind of comment is spoiling for a fight, they want to goad women into becoming angry and then they will point out with glee that you're being a harpie/hysterical/raving etc etc. Don't give them the satisfaction.

I'd list some simple points e.g. no evidence at all that leadership at Liberty Media are feminists, the women who do this job haven't had their "right to work" prevented they simply have lost the opportunity to take a one day contract. There will be other contracts they can apply for. (Maybe as an aside you could question whether anyone actually has a right to work?). The majority of women he has spoken to does not necessarily represent the majority of women, especially if he is vocal about being anti women's rights.

I would just block him. He sounds like a wannabe Russell Brand.

Slightlyperturbedowlagain · 02/02/2018 16:06

It’s not worth pitching in IMO. (However I think we can conclude his ‘sample’ of women that he says he has spoken to is probably extremely biased, as I imagine the ones that are prepared to have anything to do with him is limited to those who don’t think he’s a dick)

Thank you. I was getting so bloody angry I was in danger of typing in capitals Grin You've calmed me down. I can respond rationally now (although there may be no point as you say).

I'd probably say that as Liberty are a private company it was more likely a commercial decision that the costs of employing grid girls weren't translating into extra income, than anything to do with feminists. And then maybe argue tediously about business strategy and cost benefit analysis.

Yes quentin... that's what I had been doing up to that point. Funny how my female voice was not being heard or interpreted as 'whining'.

This is his latest offering....

"Obviously, we all want equality for all, but you have to draw the line somewhere."

4 legs bad, 2 legs good?

LMAO.

He is an idiot then, and unaware of it. LMAO indeed.

UpstartCrow · 02/02/2018 16:45

The Equality Line. If its anything like the Plimsoll Line we're fucked.

QuentinSummers · 02/02/2018 16:50

Ugh. What an idiot.
I'm so fed up of these men. Just talking utter tripe.
Anyway though I'm a feminazi so it probably won't bother them much.

just5morepeas · 02/02/2018 16:52

"Obviously, we all want equality for all, but you have to draw the line somewhere."

I'd be tempted to ask him what he means by that and see if he can justify it, but you'd probably just get more bolocks back.

AssassinatedBeauty · 02/02/2018 16:53

It would be interesting to see what his explanation might be.

thenightsky · 02/02/2018 18:29

I really want to try to question him further on what he means when he says this, but I'm not sure my blood pressure could take the hammering. I'm getting tired of the twatishness.
