here
Don't think there's a thread on this. The judge sounds amazing. And the workmen. If only it was always treated this way

He's indefinitely banned. If recent events (e.g. Worboys and that other guy released today) that means he will be back there shortly after release Angry

Oh, not so good then. I'd assumed it was forever, as the judge said. I'd have thought that was independent of the sentence

Wow.

Well done judge.

And what huge respect I have for the ferocious Scouse woman who after he tried to attack her, put her pj bottoms on, went to get a knife, and chased him.

What a brave woman.

If I have to choose between his human rights and their human rights, they are going to come first.

I love that the judge actually said this.

I’m a bit Hmm that he only credited the workmen with preventing the rapes. Surely the women prevented them too?

LoveMySituation · 12/01/2018 10:04

Me too Donny, all judges should be like this in relation to human rights. Good point about everyone preventing the rapes.

Sorry, I don't really see this as a good thing. Similarly to the Worboys situation, I would much rather he stay in an area where he is 100% known. He will rape other women these men don't just suddenly stop because they are relocated. Or better yet keep them in jail...

The women who work with him and are friends with him just won't know who he is.

It's great that the women won't have to see him again.

But he's still free to go anywhere else and do it.

He's just some one else's problem now surely

BitOutOfPractice · 12/01/2018 10:28

I feel a bit choked about this. How brave those women were. Sounds like they all tried to protect each other. And the men who stopped to help too

Judge Everett said: “If I have to choose between his human rights and their human rights, they are going to come first.”

Bravo.

But of course this only exports this vile excuse for a man to another place doesn't it?

Xenophile · 12/01/2018 11:01

It is a grand gesture, and a well intentioned one at that, but sadly, what we know about rapists is that they don't stop and all this will mean is that he will move somewhere else where he is not known as well and it will take longer to catch him.

DonnyAndVladSittingInATree · 12/01/2018 13:39

Yes I think the judges intentions are good and in the right place but the reality is he is just moving the rapist to somewhere else where he will be a risk to other women. The sentence surprised me tbh. 9(ish?) years seems long when I see what rapists who were successful in raping receive. Didn’t worboys only do something like 9 years too? I’m assuming this man will do half his sentence? So 4.5 years and then out to anywhere but Liverpool. I wonder if there is something judges can order that will better protect all women and not just move the risk along to another area.
