Day of remembrance for victims of domestic violence/male violence

Following on from the thread about the two women ( and their children ) killed by their husbands, it got me thinking about wether or not there is a day dedicated to victims of domestic violence. I've had a quick scan online and can find nothing, does anyone know if there is such a day currently? And if not, if it is possible to start one?

That’s a great idea, not sure how we can progress this though. Am increasingly more and more sickened by not only prevalence of DV, but how no priority is paid by anyone in position of power to do anything about it, in fact quite the opposite as May withdraws funding for refuges, bloody disgusting, shame on you PM, even worse because you’re female and making this de-funding policy, it’s a disgrace

Its a lovely idea, and I'd like to include remembering the women who commit suicide because of DV and male violence.

Every day almost 30 women attempt suicide because of DV, and each week 3 women succeed.

There's Million Women Rise in March www.millionwomenrise.com

November has Dead Women Walking, a march to remember women killed by men.

It's in November because that is when International Day to End Violence Against Women falls.

They should be much higher profile than they are, there is not much media coverage given but they do exist.

I feel like with the withdrawal of funding for refuges and and lack of knowledge about why and how women's refuges were set up there needs to be a high profile campaign for a specific day for victims of domestic violence, all of them - including women who commit suicide due to DV. After reading the reclaiming feminism thread, this is one of the ways I was thinking about. But again how to do this? Writing to my local MP ( a rather approachable Tory man ) feels like it might be a waste of time and I don't believe women victims of male violence are high up on labour or the greens list of priorities currently Hmm

There has rightly been high profile messaging in the public eye regarding keeping children safe online, even more mental health awareness but why oh why is this huge escalating issue of violence against women largely ignored?
