I thought i wpuld start another thread about crazy things everyday feminism posts, because I just found this gem. 5 reasons we need gender conscious responses to climate change.
Really?!! REALLY?
Just responses to climate change is good enough, why bring gender into It? (You guessed it, because women and people of colour are disproportionately affected, especially non binary indigenous women of colour )

I didn't read all of it but tbh I didn't think most of it was that bonkers.

Most of it made sense if you read "gender" as simply sex and it is probably correct that poor women are more affected than other groups. If one is going to acknowledge that it makes little difference if the tiny proportion of trans women are included too.

God has EF still not closed!!

BeyondAssignation · 28/12/2017 12:46

I went onto the homepage to contribute, but I simply can't choose just one.

QuentinSummers · 28/12/2017 12:52

Do as many as you like beyond

This one’s a classic. I wonder if the author gets many second dates? everydayfeminism.com/2017/12/intersectional-feminist-first-date/

carrotandcornsoup · 28/12/2017 13:07

And with stuff like FGM, threatened reproductive rights, child marriage, sky high rape and VAWG stats, I am just SUPER happy that EF is tackling the main issues that affect women today with articles like this! everydayfeminism.com/2017/10/genderqueer-gendered-language/

carrotandcornsoup · 28/12/2017 13:11

This has to be my favourite though. Truly bonkers everydayfeminism.com/2017/02/trans-women-not-biologically-male/

QuentinSummers · 28/12/2017 13:13

I think the gendered language article is interesting. One could almost think being able to identify what sex someone by conversation is a fundamenral part of human existence.
And why don't we hear more people called ze/zir? Hmm....its a puzzle....

Oh yes the old ‘sex is a continuum because intersex’ chestnut!

TinselAngel · 29/12/2017 14:08

Does Reilly not own any clothes that have arms?

losamsterdamos · 30/12/2017 17:17

If men fart more than women, does that mean men are causing more harm to the ozone layer and thus global warming IS a gender-related issue?

(joking, sort-of)

irretating · 30/12/2017 19:57

@Quentin

I'm amazed that science supports feminism article got past the transchecker. She throws in a couple of short paragraphs which seem designed to appease any trans readers, but the rest would not look out of place on a gender critical blog

Since no behavior is set in stone at birth, the popular view of gender as something we’re born with is too simplistic.

and

We don’t always realize when supposedly biological gender differences are culturally rooted because socialization starts early in life, becomes deeply engrained in our minds, and comes with enormous pressure to conform.

From my understanding, gender identity is present from even before birth, is biological and is fixed and unchanging, not influenced by any cultural or social factors.

Jon66 · 02/01/2018 23:41

Actually gender is not necessarily fixed from before birth, there are those who are intersex. And behaviour is strongly influenced by cultural socialization, so I'm not sure what you are trying to say.

Deadlylampshade · 02/01/2018 23:58

What have intersex people got to do with gender jon?

IrkThePurist · 03/01/2018 00:10

Everday is groundhog day....here we go again.

irretating · 03/01/2018 00:11

@Jon, I'm trying to say that this article contradicts they prevailing orthodoxy of the transgender belief system.

Geronimoleapinglizards · 03/01/2018 00:19

Being intersex is exceptionally rare @Jon

Jon66 · 03/01/2018 09:08

1 in 2000 are born with indeterminate gender.

Jon66 · 03/01/2018 09:10

Yes, I see that now!

MorrisZapp · 03/01/2018 09:15

There's a tea spittingly hilarious article on there about surviving the holidays at your rich girlfriends house if you come from a poor background.

Spoiler alert: you'll need lots of self care, calling out, checking in, processing, counselling and therapy.

Because her family have a really nice bathroom but yours didn't.

Give it a read, it's fucking priceless.
