In my long life I never had any problem with male to female trans. However, the events of the past year have baited and goaded and provoked me, until I reached Peak Trans a few weeks ago.
Labour has quietly changed the definition of "woman", without consulting women, the sex that is going to lose out.
On Sunday I wrote to the LP officials in charge of Rochester area expressing my concern about them/Labour allowing a boy to be women's officer and apply for the Jo Cox award.
The response, from Teresa Murray, a woman who is a vice-chair and a deputy leader within the local area, is that it's absolutely fine. She is perfectly happy for all these protected posts to go to any man, even a teenage boy, who self declares that he "feels like a woman" (the meaning of which is not allowed to be debated).
This means the rule that 50% of officers in every CLP having to be female, and anything else specifically set up to advance women in politics is now totally meaningless.
Women are losing all this, to appease about 1% of men.
Turns out that, for the Labour Party, the only women who matter are transwomen. Women-born-women are thrown under a bus.
There is a part of me that feels I must be stuck in a nightmare from which I cannot wake. I am so shocked that other women are joining this madness and selling other women up the river.
Will Labour women really be content if ALL the women's officers are men and ALL the students on the Jo Cox programme "for women" were men? If not, why not, if any man can say he's a woman? As there are no hormones or surgery involved, he can benefit from something then "trans" back once his fake transgenderism has served its purpose.
Regardless of her own personal feelings about this, I don't think Teresa Murray or the LP has the right to take away positions reserved for women and give them to men. It was the Labour Party that decided women NEED women's officers and reserved places. Whatever that reason was, it still stands.
I also find it incomprehensible that a woman would shut down opportunities for other women. Either they have been brainwashed, or they are themselves misogynists and secretly have always though that women do not deserve, or are unfit to be, to be in positions of power, and are glad that everything we've gained is going to be handed back to men, our "natural rulers."
Are we just going to stand back and watch this happen? Or just moan amongst ourselves? Where are YOU going to draw the line?
I am wondering if we can all get together and write a joint letter to Jeremy Corbyn or whoever is national women's officer, about this mass erasure of the meaning of the word "female" and "woman".
I think we need to start an actual organisation to show that we aren't going to just be trampled over in this way.
