The Question was actually 'choose' not 'change'
I was just in a hurry to get it on here

I didn’t see this - any details?

Not that you're asking me, but imho children should not have a gender. They (bar rare intersex etc) have a sex.male or female. Children should be able to wear whatever they damn well choose as long as it's appropriate for the weather and the company. Ie I forced dd2 to wear a coat today and stopped D's wearing his older sisters swimsuit to Tesco. Because it a swimsuit is not appropriate for the fruit and veg aisle, not because it was a girl's one. Brutal mother that I am Grin

I watched it - it was not as bad as it could have been - some gender critical views were expressed. They got the issue about age of consent (but completely missed the issue of hormones and the effect of these drugs on young people). But their fear about answering the question was palpable.
Val Macdermid was gently gender critical but accepting.
The Tory was dreadful - over emoting about one child's experiences but with no understanding of the issues being discussed.
My greatest concern was Emily Thornberry with her fake 'tinkly laughs' about just letting them change gender and a complete absence of any appreciation of the damage being done to children.

bambury was spot on with that reply. My ds loves my little pony, glitter and princesses, he is still a boy. I don't think it's an issue of a child Choosing a gender rather than society deciding that certain behaviours, likes and dislikes mean they are one gender or another.

Yeah, I think it was one of those times 'gender' was often misunderstood as a polite way of saying sex.
Rod Liddle said he agrees with the feminists - but then said children shouldn't be able to express themselves as the opposite gender.
Val McDermid made the best sense.
Just good to see the discussion on mainstream tv.
