The good ol' Guardian wants people to share their experiences of transphobia and gender-based bullying for an upcoming article...

I don't know whether to tell them about all the general bullying I have experienced just for being female, or to specifically discuss the abuse I've got for being a TERF...

We should flood them with stories of being told to suck lady dick or being told a TRA wants to kill us.

Actually I have just sent in a response. I'm so sick of how some factions of the media are handling this issue. They might very well want stories about schools but hopefully someone will at least read what I wrote.

I have been following several threads on here re. The Trans/feminist position and wanted to ask something.

If a boy wants to wear a tutu or a girl wants to wear a toolbelt, why does that need to be indicative of them not identifying as their biological gender? Is it not that they just like tutus or toolbelt? It is only because we tell them that these items of clothing or play equipment are gender indicative that they have this significance. My son likes to wear a very pretty scarf of mine because he likes the feel of the silky material and not because he has a desire to not be identified as a boy.

Putting aside the fact that I find equating a boy wearing a tutu with a girl wearing a toolbelt pretty offensive. Male dancers do not traditionally wear Tutus whereas every female builder, electrician or engineer no doubt would need one. The fact that it is presented as some sort of cross-dressing underlines that although the church wants to appear modern they are clearly a long way behind reality.

Ausparent, you know that didn't strike me about the tutus and toolbelts. I was wondering about the fuss as on the face of it the advice was very much 'let kids be kids'. You are absolutely right.

Is it worth replying though? I think we already know the direction the article will have! I don't even know why they're asking for opinions.
