blogs.spectator.co.uk/2017/11/questioning-gender-fluidity-is-the-new-blasphemy/

It's really good to see a man speaking out about this, as it will (in our non-ideal world) have more impact.

"Let me make this as clear as possible: trans adults should enjoy the same rights as every other adult, and by the same token, their ideas, their beliefs, their faith, should be subjected to the same levels of criticism and even ridicule as everybody else’s. People have rights; their ideologies do not."

Great article. It occurred to me recently that the last time men in dresses compelled everyone to believe that saying words could change material reality we ended up with the Spanish Inquisition. The parallels are striking IMO
(Apologies if I have offended anyone's religious beliefs, I was raised a Catholic and never accepted compelling anyone to believe that catholicism is the 'only true faith' was right.)

Apparently he’s a prat.

I linked to that article and was told that he might be right in this case but on almost everything else he’s completely wrong.

Sorry Blush

Yep. I just looked him up. Why can't there be some nice normal men on our side ....

In addition to this spot on comment:

just bear in mind Brendan O'Neill would love to see men and women locked very securely into their 1950s gender roles. I'd be wary of sharing this one.

"Brendan O'Neill would love to see men and women locked very securely into their 1950s gender roles."

I'm not sure that's true. I'm not a fan of O'Neill or the stuff he writes for Spiked (basically a bunch of right-wing libertarians) but I'd be surprised if he's a supporter of traditional gender roles.

Most of the time he's a professional controversialist, just saying stuff to wind people up. Or maybe he really believes it, who knows?

Then again, he's absolutely right about transgenderism. It would be good if we could have some left-wing men speak up for women's rights.

I haven't seen that in his articles. I don't read him avidly but I don't think he is a prat.
