Well why didn't he stand up and support her then?! I totally disagreed with her, but I thought she was incredibly brave to express her views. It might have been a bit easier for her if she'd had some support.

Is he making out that he was some kind of intrepid, undercover reporter?! PMSL

Irritating as it is that there was infiltration, (especially if they took a place that a woman could have had) I think we should be relaxed about it. Not of course when the activists use it to threaten and silence us but because women are not frightened of open discussion. We have nothing to hide.
It is transactivists whose rhetoric falls apart on close inspection, it is the misogynists who rely on #nodebate and silencing and no platforming etc as their arguments don't stack up.
I've been reading the comments below the line in various papers online since Janice Turner opened this up in the Times and for every "a transgender women is a woman" comment there are countless others peak-transing as they read the delusions and lies.
It won't be easy but there is a shift happening.

Who knows reallybadidea? She was brave. Wrong. But brave.

Couldn't agree more norahnamechange. It would have been good to talk. This may have happened at the pub. I had to shoot off, so I don't know if anyone engaged with her later.

Indeed, we have nothing to hide.

I didn't see her at the pub and I think I heard someone say that she was from a pro-trans organisation (I'm guessing mermaids). I hope that she reflects on what was said and has a rethink.

I also had a ticket for the Robert Webb talk tomorrow, but on the back of last night I'm sending my very pro-trans teenage son instead - I hope it gives him some gender critical ideas to think about.

She works at The Kite Trust - based in Cambridge - as a project worker and trans lead on school based work.

Ahhh, haven't come across them before. We should have all had some kind of secret mumsnet sign to identify one another Grin

DJBaggySmalls · 24/11/2017 21:52

Like a V for Vipers sign? Grin

whitehandledkitchenknife · 24/11/2017 21:55

Or vagina Grin

GuardianLions · 24/11/2017 22:02

I saw that Women's Place UK tweeted a shout out to @MumsnetTowers... was there a notable mn presence or any discussion about mn on the day?

whitehandledkitchenknife · 24/11/2017 22:22

MN mentioned in dispatches as being instrumental in leading me here. To a not insignificant murmur of approval.

About half a dozen of us identified ourselves to each other.
