A sensible POV re trans-gender?

Am I seeing things? A sensible and reasonable attitude to transgender issues! At least, in my opinion. No doubt some people would consider it transphobic, as it doesn't express the blinkered attitude that so many adopt. This is from a survey on NHS record-keeping:

A sensible POV re trans-gender?

I'm wondering whether or not that will change. A transwoman on here last year said he was looking forward to getting his smear test letter. So he must be on the database as female.

It's also a criminal (not civil) offence to disclose a person's natal sex to the doctor to whom they are being referred, if they don't want you to. I.e., your GP can't tell your oncologist your natal sex when referring.

Obviously, most people are going to say yes, go ahead and disclose my sex, because otherwise it's counter productive.

But you can bet your life people will be gleefully prosecuting doctors who do it by mistake.

There was a doctor on here a few months ago who said her hands were tied over this issue.

But why is it needed at all? All the NHS need are the facts - the person's sex. How you might wish to portray yourself could change from day to day, it's utterly unnecessary. One day I'm in full on florals, the next in dungarees? What different does it make.

I can see they are trying to please everyone. But it is still reiniforcing that gender somehow matters.

I suppose it does matter if you're being treated for it. Whether you have had any surgery or on any hormones.

I should also imagine that even if you're not being treated, the medical profession knows that identifying as transgender (as opposed to the 57 different genders) will illustrate the state of someone's mind.

87% of people identified as transgender have co morbid mental health issues. Drug and alcohol dependency are prevalent.

It's probably useful as a red flag, as much as anything else.

We are now in the age of facts and "alternative facts".

Your gender, how you portray yourself, is part of your identity. How often do we on Mumsnet object to being called 'Mum' by HCPs, or wish to choose freely between Mrs/Miss/Ms, or agonise over what the name we want to give our dc will say about them?

Respecting a person's sense of self is important.

This document doesn't suggest treating them any differently if their sense of who they are doesn't tally with what they are. On the contrary, it states that they will be treated according to their sex.

Anyone have any idea why my post was deleted?

Did some transwacktivist object to my pointing out that they are likely to resort to violence if their jendah identity is questioned?

I feel my freedom of speech is infringed on.
