Apparently you're not allowed to say that lesbians have the right to refuse sexual relations with people with penises. Martha Harvey's being bullied merely for posting an article which contained this daring assertion.

Datun - I think it's moving out of niche into mainstream heterosexual feminism. This poem was shared recently on Facebook by a straight feminist and lots of other feminists liked it: wildgender.com/queer-poetics-how-to-make-love-to-a-trans-person/2401

I find it chilling

venusinscorpio · 20/07/2017 16:07

Yes don't let them off when they say "of course people have the right to refuse sex with any specific individual". People have the right to reject anyone sexually for any reason. It's not a social justice issue and to suggest it is is rapey logic. Guilt tripping people into sex is abuse.

That poem is horrendous.

Comparing a transwoman with no breasts due to being male an 'accident of genetics' with a woman that has had a mastectomy due to cancer, diabetes or an an accident is absolutely disgusting.

I can totally admire that poem for its creativity. It's extraordinary.

It's also a load of bollocks.

Floggingmolly · 20/07/2017 17:03

What does this crap even mean? I'm a straight woman, and I don't sleep with every man I meet Confused

Datun · 20/07/2017 17:07

Language is important. And that poem is just another example of the massive disconnect between fantasy and reality.

I really don't know where they get the idea that people are idiots.

It's gaslighting isn't it? I worry that some women are going to feel cowed into sleeping with transwomen because they feel it's too mean not to want to.

That apology from Martha Harvey is really scary. It's like something out of the Handmaid's Tale :(

The silencing is the worst part of this. I wouldn't usually use the word frightening, but it really is. The trans-juggernaut refuses to stop.

Signed. 😠

I really don't know where they get the idea that people are idiots.

To be fair, the Internet provides a lot of evidence in favour of people being idiots.

OlennasWimple · 20/07/2017 22:19

that apology reads like it was written for her and she was forced to sign it at gun point

Datun · 20/07/2017 22:28

God yes, I second that. I had no idea how many truly dreadful people are out there until I started to go online more.

Really hateful, disgusting people. Exhorting people to kill themselves, drink bleach, etc. Quite apart from the trans issue.

There are just so many. It makes me look at people I see day to day completely differently. Makes you wonder.
