Germaine Greer talk protested

So I went to a couple of Germaine Greer talks today. One on the Bronte sisters and one on ecofeminism. Nothing about trans issues whatsoever.

Both talks had protesters outside. I have attached a pic of the protest and the leaflet they were handing out. Apparantly because GG and Jenni Murray were both speaking at the week long literary fest, Juno Dawson was too scared to attend and had to pull out. There were police at both talks so.I assume they had also received threats.

Utterly utterly ridiculous. Women who are "problematic" are now not allowed to talk about anything apparantly.

I wonder how they feel about Dawson's attitude towards gay men?

So there were several MTT in the audience who sat with faces like slapped arses all the way through.

At the end one put up hand and GG asked for someone else as she won't take the first question from a man! Looked like was sucking a lemon.

Eventually was called on later and said "Three points and a question." The three points were barely relevant mansplaining about points in the talk. Then asked what place transgender women like himself had in ecofeminism.

She answered the same as everyone else and she worked with men and women on conservation. She then said trans issues were not her area of expertise, she had no interest in it and she wished people would stop making her talk about it. The rest of the audience then applauded!

Brilliant!
Really want to see her now.

She's depriving it of the oxygen it needs to live. Good on her.

I saw GG speak at an event recently and was appalled. She spent the entire keynote degrading and belittling Sheryl Sandberg which had nothing to do with the event or the topic she was supposed to be speaking about! She also went off on a tangent about how women love to carry handbags because we're traditional gatherers not hunters (nothing to do with the fact that pockets 'ruin' the body shape of women's clothes I suppose?) and other bonkers stuff.

Was honestly so disappointed as I was looking forward to hearing someone with such an incredible history speak, and instead I just felt really uncomfortable and as though I was witnessing something really bizarre.
