Horrendous murder of young woman

Sorry for the topic of this thread, also it's an ongoing and recent incident so if it's not appropriate please report for removal. I also appreciate there's possibly not a lot anyone can say, I've just found it very upsetting and wanted to express that. A young woman was murdered on her way home from college on Friday most probably by two men completely unknown to her (not that it'd be anything but horrendous whatever): www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2017/06/18/teenager-dreamed-becoming-doctor-died-multiple-neck-wounds-brutal/

Whilst I also know coverage doesn't make it better I'm finding it also upsetting it's receiving comparatively very little news coverage (in part due to other incidents I suppose). Most of all though, I find it chilling and extremely saddening. Another life taken just like that, for no reason other than her sex, a misogynist hate crime yet never named as such.

I'm not sure the term is appropriate but I think that's refreshing Karlos. I think of that kind of thing so often with these cases; women and girls murdered because they're women and girls. No other reason whatsoever. Yet it keeps happening and few say what these instances actually show. Such violent and dangerous misogyny.

It depends what the family want NoLoveOfMine. The press always offer the family an opportunity to put together a really lovely tribute piece (and the family in this case will have been approached by everyone). If the family don't want that it's intrusive for them to do it anyway.
One of the distressing things for the relatives is how public their grief becomes.

This is such a sad case.

Very good point NC4now. I know there have been some lovely tributes which haven't mentioned the abhorrent murderer at all in certain cases. Families must definitely be left to attempt to deal with these horrific losses in private.

It's an awful case Sad

"He says Buckley was ‘hard working’ and in long term relationships but that he received a ‘double blow’ of losing his job and his relationship."

Words fail me.

I'm in the north west and it's been on every news update all afternoon on our local radio.

Words fail me at the excuses made.

I'm just up the M6 and what Ellen must have been through has shaken me. I agree that male violence against women is not spoken about. I don't know when it will change. It actually terrifies me if I think too much about all of the men who are walking around, planning acts of violence and biding their time.

I can empathise with this. It's incredibly chilling. She did nothing but go for a walk to have a break from revision and this abhorrent man who had set out to attack a girl or woman murdered her for being one. It enrages me.
