www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2017/may/23/trans-women-vikki-thompson-mens-jail

... what is most interesting is that the comments seem to indicate that people are reaching Peak Trans ... many have been deleted though.

OP posts:

I just checked the article again, and my comment has not been deleted! Shock

Are the Guardian finally waking up?!?

GuardianLions · 25/05/2017 13:59

I wonder if the mods just knocked off early or if Paris abandoned report-button sentry...

But dare I hope that the mindless SJW mob on high-alert to the transphobia dog-whistle are beginning to thin out?... ...... I would like to think that the grotesque Frankenstein's Monster of 3rd Wave feminism/sex possie/queer theory is grinding to a halt and the hot air and bullshit that fuelled it is now just running on fumes. Perhaps the young women who got sucked in have grown up a bit and are starting to see sense.

My pessimistic side is that the large contingent of the MRA's who posed online as 3rd wave feminists to stoke the whole thing have backed off that one - , now that the unforeseen consequence of their interference seems to mean they have just opened the door for other men to get into women's changing rooms... not something they want if they actually get to 'claim' a female for themselves...

AnotherQuoll · 26/05/2017 17:59

Yeah that's something I've never understood. If MtTs want to use our (female) toilets to avoid the males in the men's rooms, why demand self declaration laws that will allow those males to come right on in with them to our female toilets, unchallenged? Hmm It makes no sense.

BigDeskBob · 26/05/2017 20:38

It's never been about safety. It's always about validation.

www.vice.com/en_uk/article/paris-lees-on-katie-hopkins-free-speech-and-the-hypocrisy-of-the-left

FFS!!!! Paris Lees is making the Manchester attack all about her and trans women! Unbelievable!

The article basically says that everyone is rushing to defend Katie Hopkins hate speech as freedom of speech, but nobody did the same when Germaine Greer was making 'hate speech' towards transgender people.

I mean, really?!?

*"When anti-transphobia campaigners objected to Greer being offered a platform, we were told that free speech was absolute. That anyone could say anything anywhere and no one had any right to object to it or seek to take that person's platform away from them. Trans people asked: "Well where do you draw the line?" and were told, "There is no line!"

As Hopkins has demonstrated this week: OF COURSE THERE IS A FUCKING LINE. The question is and always will be: where do you draw it?"*

Hate speech is:

Calling for the genocide of a population by extermination in death camps.

Hate speech is not:

Criticising the misogyny and stereotypes underpinning the delusions of males who think they are females.

Paris can't (or won't) distinguish between them.

Terfing · 27/05/2017 07:42

The thing is, even if Paris was right (which she's not), could she not have waited a few weeks to say it? The attack was 4 days ago! SadAngry

Datun · 27/05/2017 09:12

As far as I know Free Speech is about the government not being able to legislate against you saying something.

I'm not sure how that is interpreted in terms of hate speech though.

So would making it illegal to misgender someone, for instance, be a curtailment of free speech?

Particularly as that legislation would be forcing you to actually lie.

The narcissism of the trans-ideology never ceases to amaze me. It really is all about them.

DJBaggySmalls · 27/05/2017 10:03

Free speech is permitted, hate speech is not. Hate speech includes desiring or celebrating the erasure of a group or individual.

In the USA you can be fined $250,000 for misgendering someone. But legislation is proposed to decriminalise knowingly infecting someone with HIV.

And in parts of the US it's just fine for little girls to marry their rapists Angrymobile.nytimes.com/2017/05/26/opinion/sunday/it-was-forced-on-me-child-marriage-in-the-us.html. How's that for cis privilege?

OlennasWimple · 27/05/2017 10:37

I can't work out whether, in that Vice article, Paris is being deliberately obtuse or just pig shit thick

WhereYouLeftIt · 27/05/2017 12:17

I would hope so too, but I fear what they are actually doing is hanging out on Twitter. I have never read such a load of bollocks-of-140-characters-or-less as I have recently.

My impression was that they're pretty sure they now own 'woman' and now they're claiming 'female'. Seriously, here's an example.

Christ, that's awful. So you can be fined for sticking with biological facts rather than playing along with someone's delusion.
