It was interesting. I'm not sure why but the mental illness of having dysphoria seemed very obvious to me, listening to these people talk. And the fact that so many of them were claiming lots of labels -i always felt that was a way of seeming special but perhaps it's just a way for people who have never felt they never fitted to give it a name and therefore fit in with others who claim those labels.
I must say, this did nothing to counter my view that many trans people have a very fixed opinion of gender being something innate and precious rather than a damaging social construction. The woman who claimed she had been crap at being a woman and was therefore non binary... she must have had quite a fixed idea of what it is to be a woman that went beyond the biology.

Yes- I have such an issue with the whole idea of stereotyping within this debate. It's hard to put into words- but the fact that there are such strict constraints around what being a woman is that somebody can think they are crap at being a womanand therefore must be something else really upsets me.

What stood out for me was the parent stating that genitals crop up all the time in conversation with children. Really? I don't find that. At least no more than other body parts once kids can use the toilet, wash themselves and know about bodily autonomy.

Examples given were of the 'girls usually have vaginas but sometimes have a penis' variety.

Very interesting podcast though.

I liked that it was just people talking but with no commentary. Can't bear "front hole" used by anyone though-I think that no one of any sex or gender would use that if they had any sensitivity at all.

Yes. The presenter distanced herself from genderism at the start and let the participants 'own' their beliefs.
