How does this happen?

Met one recently and have felt a little sick since, worrying about it.

theshitcollector - I think there is a generation of women who could only get to the top of their profession by being more like men than men. As frustrating as it is to see them, I don't necessarily blame them for doing what they personally had to do to put a few cracks in the glass ceiling.

They seemed to enjoy the reputation for being tough. I suspect they also got plenty of praise (and quite possibly career advancement) from male bosses for saying the things that they thought but didn't feel able to say. I always felt they tried to distance themselves from women in order to better fit in with the men at the top.

I always suspect this is how women like Thatcher and May get to the top. By throwing other women under the bus and aligning themselves with the men. Even Queen Elizabeth with her "heart and stomach of a king" crap.
