I'm really sad to see that trans feminist writer Miranda yardley has been chased out of town by trolls and so called "feminists" purely for expressing their honest and may I say scientifically informed opinion that trans women are and always will be male and cannot claim the same experience of womanhood as born women. I always though Miranda was such an important voice in the debate because as a trans woman they can't be accused of transphobia or being a TERF...

That's social media for you.

Someone expresses a perfectly reasonable opinion like 'men aren't women' or 'that's sexist' and finds themselves entirely outnumbered by bullies spouting entirely groundless bollocks. It can be happen on Twitter, it can happen right here on dear old MN. Until people shed that urge to pile in at once and shame an individual into silence through sheer weight of numbers, this shit will continue.

Personally, I'd like to see a policy here on mumsnet where if you don't have something fresh to add to a debate you're strongly discouraged from just piling in and repeating what others have already said. Maybe a like button would help?

Not that it's helped on Twitter...

Mumtobe25 Miranda is a transsexual. I havent seen her post anything hateful. I've seen her called 'truscum' and told to die.

TinyRick · 05/07/2017 03:45

Mumtobe25 Could you give some examples of where Miranda has said 'disturbing' things? I have had a look and can't find any.

PoochSmooch · 05/07/2017 06:15

I heard from a friend of mine

All the best analysis starts like this!

What did you hear, mum? Can you clarify what hateful things Miranda has said?

UnderTheDesk · 05/07/2017 06:23

Best of luck to you, Miranda. Hope you're ok.

glenthebattleostrich · 05/07/2017 07:04

Mum, please tell me what is so offensive about saying hey, learn to be comfortable with who you are, dress a should please, find whichever sexual partners you want as long as long as everyone consents, present to the world as you please. Just don't expect the world to buy into a delusion.

What's wrong with saying respect women's right to privacy and dignity and stop appropriating their spaces?

What is wrong with pointing out that trans activists are actively working against women?

What is wrong with exposing the people and issues involved in the trans activist movement?

Miranda Yardley is a breath of fresh air in an increasingly mysogynistic world. Trans activists are actively encouraging the erasure of women and thank goodness there are people who are willing to make a stand and say no.

FerretsAreFeminists · 07/07/2017 11:52

Mum is probably referring to the fact that Miranda stands up for the rights and dignity of girls and women. Defending women is now considered harassment and bigotry for some strange reason.

DJBaggySmalls · 07/07/2017 11:57

Miranda is currently being harassed after a Spanish activist took exception to the video she did with Rya.

cuirderussie · 07/07/2017 18:32

Miranda is a true ally of girls and women. Hate to think of her getting a hard time. Flowers
