Oh I know he's right wing and it's Fox News but it's hilarious

Me too, I thought ugh, Fox News, but he was brilliant. And I hope it made a lot of people realise what's actually at stake here. I was so annoyed at a news discussion someone linked to where the male host, some Christian conservative type and two transwomen including Laverne Cox were discussing the bathroom issue. Not a woman in sight. Sometimes I feel like I'm in the Stepford Wives or the Handmaids Tale where it's just a massive conspiracy of men and even the supposed nice ones are in on it and don't give a shit about women underneath. Sad

Here's the clip.

The interviewer seems to have learned from her

LassWiTheDelicateAir · 25/02/2017 23:48

I think he liked and respected her from the outset. The transactivist started off with that silly eye-rolling and face pulling which made him look ridiculous and I imagine did not help his case.

Dansky's phrase about degradation of language (or similar) seemed to resonate strongly with Carlson. I don't know who he is but from the 2 interviews he came across as someone who uses words precisely and who cares about language. He had no difficulty at all in the interview with the transactivist in getting the distinction between sex and gender.

Bue · 26/02/2017 06:05

That was absolutely amazing. I grinned like a Cheshire cat throughout that interview. Well done to Tucker Carlson for listening to Kara Dansky, clearly taking on board her comments, and absolutely destroying this absurdity in a manner that is clearly going to resonate with a lot of people. (Although on Fox News I suspect he may be preaching to the converted...)

EmpressOfTheSpartacusOceans · 26/02/2017 06:28

Love both those videos!

Lessthanaballpark · 26/02/2017 06:55

Great KD interview but at the end he says "you've said that you fight for women and girls regardless of their political affiliation. Thanks for saying that. You're rare"

Confused Rare? When has feminism ever been anything else?

Sometimes I get this glimmer of hope that if only people understood what feminism really is and what it definitely isn't there'd be none of this backlash fighting.

0phelia · 26/02/2017 08:31

Carson says at one point "so what's to stop me, looking the way I do, from demanding to play in the women's hockey team, demanding to be sent to a womens prison or demanding the million dollar grant for female business start up" and the TA says
"These questions are absurd. There are no examples of these things happening"
But there ARE examples of these things happening! Plenty of them, I wish Carson had been prepared without some names to back up that point.

Anyway amongst all of all the scary ideas Trump comes up with... I'm half agreed with this one. And it's interesting to see the arguments talked out like that on a MSN show like Fox.

0phelia · 26/02/2017 08:32

Will watch the KD one in a bit...

Lessthanaballpark · 26/02/2017 08:50

This interview is a lot better and evenly matched. It raises the isea of a legal criteria for identification: that if someone wants to identify as the opposite sex they need to prove they've taken the necessary steps over a period of time. That seems more sensible except it isn't currently practised.

Lessthanaballpark · 26/02/2017 08:54

But reading the comments is awful and makes me instinctively side with the transgender woman. It galls me to think I might have some ideas with nasty bigots who would verbally harass someone like that.

Bambambini · 26/02/2017 08:58

Yes, this Transwoman was a much better debater. Issue is trans has progressed to mean anything and everything and now TAs are pushing for self identification and the breaking of gate keeping steps which were necessary to go through to be legally deemed trans.

lionheart · 26/02/2017 09:20

Yes, as Less says, to question the trans narrative puts you in some vile company. That said, I think TC did a good job there. These things have to be properly debated if the legal and ethical frames are to work together. This does not appear to be the case in this example: bigstory.ap.org/article/07371f06bd084b1c90ef9a75dc45fec1/transgender-boy-moves-within-1-win-girls-texas-title?utm_campaign=SocialFlow&utm_source=Twitter&utm_medium=AP_Sports

ChuckDaffodils · 26/02/2017 09:36

I think they should change all public toilets to 'Vagina' or 'Penis'.

As the equipment is designed according to how the person will use it...not who uses it.

QueenLaBeefah · 26/02/2017 09:42

Just goes to show when this argument is taken off the internet and put fully on display on TV the transgender ideology completely crumbles.

fakenamefornow · 26/02/2017 10:26

I think they should change all public toilets to 'Vagina' or 'Penis

Great solution.

I was thinking about cis last night and as much as I dislike the word, if women wholesale adopted it, dropped the word 'woman' completely and use cis to describe and identify females, I think the TAs would be outraged and start demanding that they are cis.

Poppyred85 · 26/02/2017 12:06

fake I like the idea, though hate the word. I can't remember who but someone on another thread suggested "cister" which I quite like given its a homonym for sister and as a way of claiming the word "cis" for ourselves.

WhisperedLoudest · 26/02/2017 12:23

fake in a world wear biological women have "front holes" and trans women have vaginas or clittys (the vomit inducing name for a "female penis") Im not sure that'd work...

ACubed · 26/02/2017 14:45

Good vid thanks for posting - I was having that debate at Christmas regarding being transracial - I ant think of a single difference between a man 'feeling' like a woman and a white person 'feeling' like a black person, yet the former is now very common whereas you'd get crucified for the latter!

Itwasthenandstillis · 26/02/2017 15:34

Lessthanaballpark - he was suggesting that it was rare for an organisation to support a group of people without looking at political affiliation.. - not specifically talking about feminist groups. I get the impression that in the US your organisation either works for dems or reps an don't represent a set of people taken from both 'sides'.

NotYoda · 26/02/2017 16:40

It is indeed a rum old world. When I try to explore this with people I know and like and generally agree with, they look at me like I'm a Fox News presenter. I really don't think liberal-leaning people realise how the radical Trans agenda is being used

Acubed
BTW, interesting interview with Rachel Dolezal by Decca Aitkenhead in the Guardian yesterday. Decca had the balls to compare the two

ACubed · 26/02/2017 16:45

Thanks reading now!

NotYoda · 26/02/2017 17:08

Lessthanaballpark

Thanks for linking. That was a better interview.
