Has anyone encountered this FB group?

I usually lurk rather than post here, but I've recently stumbled across a FB group called 'So you want to raise a feminist'.

I joined it and I've been really shocked surprised by the differences between it and what I tend to read on here. I think it's mainly an American group, although some obv. from other places, and loads of the things posted seem quite anti-feminist to me - they call each other 'ladies' a lot etc. Is this just differences between UK and US feminists?

I was just wondering if anyone else had seen/joined it and what you think?

Even within the trans ideology,

Female = Sex
Woman = Gender

right? Because even transmen might have Ovarian Cancer, Period pains, etc etc. How do you qualify for medical treatment for female organs without admitting their existence?

Bambambini · 21/02/2017 14:15

But the organs aren't female. That's just an inaccurate and crude out of date way of looking at biology. So they say.

I just read that link bambamini, I had to laugh at the protests about putting people in boxes.

Transman, transwoman, cisman, ciswoman, non-binary etc. All those lables! Why can't people just act how they like without having to label themselves as something else?
You don't need to call yourself non-binary, just be a person with short hair and lumberjack shirts today and skirts tomorrow (or whatever your idea of non-binary is), be a man who wears dresses and make up. Why would you feel the need to stick a label on yourself and put yourself into a box like that?

Bambambini · 21/02/2017 15:09

Because it's out there and trending. I'm sure a lot of these kids would just have been goths and emos in the past.

bamb

I too feel uncomfortable about women having a downer on their womanhood.

Despite knowing that women have been oppressed because of their biology and that very biology can be painful, difficult and sometimes fatal, I still like being one.

And for all the advantages that men may get as a class, leading to entitlement, when I talk in real life to my girlfriends, or come on here and see a bunch of other women talking, I really wouldn't have it any other way. I'm proud to be a woman.

Because I'm wondering how often people who spout that kind of utter bollocks are still at university and happy to theorize, or at least very young and inexperienced.

Working with fairly young women it is them that say "oh I could never leave my children in childcare". Not the ones that, you know, actually have children.

Can anyone recommend a good Facebook group for Rad Fems?
