This is in my neck of the woods. And let me be clear, the libraries all have books by Dworkin et al in them. So why attack a self-funded, small, feminist library? If it isn't about attacking women?

According to SM, these idiots were smoking in the library, after having been invited in in the spirit of friendship, spilled wine on the books and the police were called. Apart from anything else, it's not very bloody Canadian.

Well venus I don't know.

On a plus note, it sounds like the Vancouver Women's Library has received so much support that they have had to add a donate button to their website. Which is very cheering because believe me, in Canada right now, there is no dissent.

Why has Canada in particular gone so far down the rabbit hole? I've always thought of it as quite a chilled out place! Is it a reaction to the polarised situation in the US?

They are beyond pathetic. But I did snigger at the banned Buddhism books. Bigoted buddhists is a stand I've missed (and I don't believe any of them are bright enough to discuss classism with Buddhism or even know the history of the faith).

It's odd culturally. Basically Canada thinks of itself as very right-on. And liberal. So it has jumped on the bandwagon hard. But it is also quite sexist and divided along gender lines (lots of home baking and hockey fights) so if you are gender non-conforming it's very hard. So being trans is an obvious 'fix'.

Lots of virtue signalling and being the most liberal stuff. Canada wants to be ahead of the curve and non-American.

They must be using an interesting definition of "violence".

I doubt they've read all the books on the list. It would be nonsensical if it wasn't so bloody dangerous. Now you don't need to burn books, just try to petition them out of existing and/or cut their funding.
