FGM community support system having its funding withdrawn.

Just heard today that the specialist centre in Acton, North London, that supports girls and women who have been forced to undergo FGM is having its funding withdrawn. It will be shut in March unless we can make the budget holders reconsider. Please sign the petition - the clinic helps hundreds of women get life changing support.

A nasty kernel inside me hopes they get thousands of signatures from all the men who said that this was a more important cause to get behind. Maybe they'll do something about it. I won't hold my breath though.

Thank you everyone for signing and sharing. It seems so short sighted to cut funding for clinics like this that not only provide essential medical support, but also education and outreach support to some of those families often hardest to reach.

Xenophile - sorry to hear about the women's refuge in Sunderland. It seems like budget holders base their decisions on criteria such as 'does this affect me'.

Another reason why greater diversity would be so beneficial.

Which clinic is closing? These are part of Imperial College- the first one allows for self- referral. Is it to be closed?
