Should a 16yo boy offer to walk a 13/14yo female friend (not girlfriend) home?

That's a very good point Yonic and also shows how it's a flawed message to send to girls that being walked back means safety.

I'm glad you're alright Bluntness. What happened was horrible. Certainly not your fault for not reporting it, you can only do what you feel able to at the time.

Problem with warning girls not to walk alone, at night or otherwise, is we can't always avoid it. For example if a friend walks home with me, who walks home with her? We can stay with friends as long as possible but at some point at least one friend will be left alone. I understand why the advice is given and am not criticising it, my own parents say similar, just is impossible to always follow and we shouldn't have to.

The age difference complicates things.
I think a 16yo walking a 13/14yo home is likely sensible regardless of the genders.
And I remember older girls taking care of younger boys in this way when I was that age.

Given the amount of discussion required, I think it's obvious if it is sexist or not.
