by Dawn Foster. It looks interesting as a riposte to the whole 'Lean in' thing (a la Xenia) which never quite does it for me.

Agreed - the (libertarian?) argument that it doesn't matter about providing good conditions to the bottom of the heap because if they wanted to they could move up to the middle, has a hole in it you could drive a tanker through.

Do you think it makes a difference to policy that the current Cabinet are about half Old Etonians? Because to me it seems obvious that such a narrow group would lack awareness of what life is like at the other end of the scale, but the other side of that is that as well as being aware, they'd also have to give a shit.

Slightly - I think the current cabinet haven't a clue and more importantly, aren't interested in educating themselves.
Wives are for baking cakes and simpering behind their husbands of course. Leave the real jobs for the boys.
