WTAF! I feel like I'm misunderstanding it because I can't believe it's true! Please can anyone explain what's going on?

"The logical conclusion is that men will avail themselves of their "human rights" whenever they want, cos they is entitled to innit"

This ^

The idea that sex is a human right seems to me to be a very dangerous thing to make official. I can see all sorts of nasty implications arising from it.

One example is here. They've mostly been very careful to move away from this sort of language, as it rather reveals their hand. (And their almost complete lack of focus on the fact that it's men who overwhelmingly are the johns is pretty telling, too.)

When is that from? It's quite different to the document I have seen, which I think might (?) supercede that statement. Someone else might know the two items relate.

Certainly in their Q&a they have obviously felt the need to address the "sex is a human right" point, and have not taken that opportunity to say it isn't.

The q&a is definitely recent,

“Sexual desire and activity are a fundamental human need,” said one footnote in the leaked document. “To criminalize those who are unable or unwilling to fulfill that need through more traditionally recognized means and thus purchase sex, may amount to a violation of the right to privacy and undermine the rights to free expression and health.”

Yay

V important that men get their end away with actual live humans of their choice.

This is from the original policy document and hence it being in the q&a and then not taking the opportunity to say no we've moved away from that, or whatever.

And who are the 237 "sex worker" organisations? I was at an event where a man claimed to be speaking from a "sex worker" organisation abroad. The guy lives in Glasgow.

AnyFucker · 13/08/2015 20:34

I could take a good guess at who that guy from Glasgow is. He used to post on here about the right of disabled men to pay women to fuck him. Probably still does.

Report
AnyFucker · 13/08/2015 20:36

he was "friends" with a "lot of sexworkers" apparently

perhaps that's what that guy means....he knows a lot of sex workers from sex tourism destinations, perhaps ?

Report
Queeltie · 13/08/2015 20:39

He claimed to be a "sex worker" speaking from a disadvantaged country abroad. Of course some "sex worker" organisations let punters join.

Report
AnyFucker · 13/08/2015 20:42

Since many of them are run by pimps, I imagine that could be the case.

Report
Queeltie · 13/08/2015 20:46

Of course the "correct" language is "clients". Just as pimps are called "managers" or "drivers". Language used to sanitise and hide the reality of what is happening.

I still can't get my head around this. An organisation that I thought was, and should be, an ally has utterly betrayed women. It boggles my mind.

Maybe MNHQ should hold a webchat with AI and see how they explain themselves. As far as I can tell they have lots a lot of support over this.

It was illuminating, more from what they didn't say than what they did.

Oh, thanks, I'll check it out.

And in societies where women and girls are for sale to men, and that is seen as utterly normal, where does this lead in terms of the population attitude to women and girls?

This has been in my mind too. As has...

Also if sex with another human being is a human right, like food or water or shelter, then it must be provided to all citizens. Irrespective of their ability to pay.

Maybe the right to a prostitute can one of their future battles for prisoners' rights.

Can anybody please send me a link to the AI peace that talks about the human right of men to have sex and that compares prostitution to cleaners etc? I can't find it now and my friend doesn't actually believe me!

Archeryannie linked it a bit further up but you need to join to read the whole thing. I think the bit with cleaners (or one of them) is on the bit you can read free though

This is putting me in mind of the comfort women provided for Japanese soldiers. Must ensure the men get their jollies.
