Sexual violence in Rihanna video

I've just posted about this in AIBU, but the general consensus was that IABU to be bothered about this. So I thought I would give it a go here.

I'm not going to link, but I am absolutely disgusted at the new Rihanna video. Especially coming from Rihanna who has been a victim of domestic violence herself. Who would make a video like this?

I just despair at what is becoming mainstream. For example, Sam Smith has just tweeted a link to it to his 3 million followers, many of which will be young teenagers.

While I know there are men who enjoy more violent sex/abuse/ porn, is it really a big thing? ( I do understand the stats on violent crime, so maybe it is)

No, no, its perfectly fine and lovely. Its really good for society actually. It's nice for our dds to grow up to know some of their mates are watching more and more violent/sex/abuse against women. Excellent stuff. Teach them their place.

John I think you've missed my point. I was talking about people commenting on this thread on men wanking to this video, which I found strange.

So your point is: men won't wank to this, there's far more violent sex/abuse/porn they can wank to?

Got it.

If you install the YouGov opinion app on your phone today's 3 questions are about this video.

I don't like the video, whatever message it is trying to send (if any) or whether it is purely to shock or if it's meant as art for art's sake, I don't like it.

I have problems with a lot less extreme videos too. A few David Guetta one's come to mind particularly but to be honest I think the number of music videos that don't portray women in a sexist way is low (and getting lower).

I don't really understand the justification of the Rhianna video, it seems to be a bit too 'eye for an eye' for my liking. I think the whole thing has got a lot more attention than it deserves but then I think that was the point.
