I tweeted some selfies... guess what happened next?

Some nasty little troll (one that i know of) has taken screenshots / saved my selfies and my bio and has tweeted about i should commit suicide, and just generally, with one or two of their followers, ripped into me. They feel sorry for my kids, i probably fucked and "alpha" and stung a "beta" for child support, tweeting about the correct "alpha" response to child support claims with a photo of a woman being punched in the stomach, laughing about how im fat, and as if i can be fussy.
None was tweeted to me, i found it because the person tweeted me and i nosed through their timeline.
Why is it so offensive to them that a fat, feminist woman would dare to quite like themselves?

It's essentially photo-bombing a live broadcast usually being made by a female reporter, where instead of gurning in the background and mouthing 'hello mum', you leap into shot and shout 'fuck her right in the pussy' into the microphone. Or you are being interviewed by said female reporter (you know, 'how did you find the game, john?', and shout 'fuck her right in the pussy' into the mic instead of saying 'they woz robbed'.

Yes. Bog standard street harassment of a woman going about her paid employment, for kicks, laughs, and macho brownie points. Except it backfired on the chap in Toronto becasue the reporter had really had enough of being faced with this absolute tossery every day at work and retaliated.

And he got fired.

He got fired - result.
Anyone who behaves like that, well, it should be socially unacceptable and they should suffer the consequences.

I like what you did, Gin. And I love that you get what's going on. I'm sorry the wrath of the invisible male was visited on you but, as discussed above - and shown by the fact you took screenshots - it sometimes is possible to make these twerps face the reality of their actions. I hope you get your moment Flowers

Gralick · 20/05/2015 23:18

The law does change things, Black. Very little else does, tbh. It takes time to filter through - for one example of hundreds, look how much time passed between anti-racism laws and people eventually finding racist speech unacceptable.

I know the legal community has been addressing problems of internet crimes (and how to make them be crimes) for many years and has been amending our laws accordingly. I hope they will also look specifically at street harassment because, as you say, it all feeds from the same pool.

emmelinelucas · 20/05/2015 23:19

Oh yes, I didn't mean to belittle women's experiences, TheBlack I think things have changed so much with social media. Changing mens perception of women is going to take far longer than bringing in legislation to stop at least some of the harrassment and threats.
I am not hopeful about the safety and welfare of women, not at all.

I don't understand what these mean?

The site you want to go to to learn about these things is: knowyourmeme.com

Its very advert and click-bait heavy but the quality of the information is very good. For example, MGTOW (Men Going Their Own Way):

knowyourmeme.com/memes/subcultures/manosphere

FHRITP is also in there.

YY, Black, a multi-pronged approach is always best (a pitchfork would be useful Wink)

@ TheBackRider

It's in pretty common usage these days - it's what misogynist shits call themselves.

What do mysandrist shits call themselves?

YonicScrewdriver · 21/05/2015 18:17

If you find some, partial, let us know .

Let me check under the sofa...

Nope.

YonicScrewdriver · 21/05/2015 18:39

Partial, have you asked your question on an MRA site?

partialderivative · 21/05/2015 18:44

I'm guilty of diveting the OP.

Sorry.

Badonna · 22/05/2015 08:48

Gin, I am sorry this happened to you. What slimy cowards those men are. If you can, tell the police.
