As my facebook friends will already know Grin

I was at the MN 15th birthday bash. He was giving a speech. He was ramping up to the end of it, listing all the great things that Mums do - you know, looking after kids, doing all the wife work stuff...

And he said why do they do it

I shouted "the patriarchy"

He said love.

There was much hilarity, and instead of getting thrown out, Justine got me in the photo's taken of Boris with her, and I got many fist bumps from people around the room when they found out it was me that had heckled.

Grin

And I drank too much fizzy stuff.

And earlier in the evening I got to meet the very lovely Puffins.

Obviously MNHQ couldn't get Jeremy Clarkson in.

Heckler sterling work.

YvesJutteau · 12/03/2015 21:41

"Wtf was he doing at a mn do?"

Maybe he's a MNer himself...

AskBasil · 12/03/2015 22:41

It's very pleasing to think of a mumsnetter ruining BoJo's crescendo.

elportodelgato · 12/03/2015 22:44

I have heard on the grapevine that BoJo and our own Justine Mumsnet are next door neighbours IRL so know each other quite well, hence probably why he attended. But I agree, seems like an odd choice of speaker, glad to hear he got PROPERLY heckled

elportodelgato - They were next door neighbours some years ago. This was actually stated in one of the speeches (can't remember which - I was a leetle drunk)

kim - do you mean the question why women do all the shit work? His answer was "love"

Mighty fist bumps to you, you wonderful person.

It was fabulous meeting you too.

sashh · 13/03/2015 06:29

Have now followed you on witter - but I suspect you currently have a little headache

Heckler · 13/03/2015 06:41

Headache? Nah. Grin

That was brilliant Heckler. Why can I never think of these retorts But really "love" was his reply to why women do all the unpaid work? Do men really think that? Is that what helps them justify their laziness it in their mind? It goes back to that thread about cognitive dissonance in men. Hmm

JeanneTheRabidFeminist · 13/03/2015 07:47

I love the heckle, but this thread has got me really worried. Boris could so be a MNer. Now every time the trolls pop out I will be imagining that hair.

It does amuse me immensely how people think MN is from the outside. 'Aww, a bunch of mummies, they will love my sentimental codswallop ...'. No, Boris, no.

Trills · 13/03/2015 08:00

I agree with FairPhyllis !

HarrietTheFly · 13/03/2015 09:13

I followed you on Twitter Heckler.

Boris loves lots of women doesn't he? Floppy, blonde tit.

UptoapointLordCopper · 13/03/2015 09:41

I hope Boris is on MN.

Boris IT'S THE PATRIARCHY.

Love indeed.

Well done Heckler!

iHAVEtogetoutofhere · 13/03/2015 10:09

BoJo: 'Women do all the work because of: "Love"'

Entitled patrician wanker. Angry

Well done Heckler.

TheCowThatLaughs · 13/03/2015 12:00

AS IF boris gives a shit about what a load of women think! There's no danger of him being on here.

FuckYouChrisAndThatHorse · 13/03/2015 12:08

:o

Brilliant.

Surely if you hadn't heckled, everyone in the room would have vomited simultaneously at the tweeness of BoJo's "Love" answer. Thank God you saved all those people from the tsunami of sick. You're a proper hero, Heckler Flowers

Heckler · 13/03/2015 12:27

Indeed. I saved everybody from a load of platidudinous (made up word) crap.

brilliant!
I wish I was there.
am too chicken and slow for stuff like this.

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 13/03/2015 13:10

I think it's that public schoolboy thing of having been brought up separately from girls and thinking underneath that women are a different, at once morally superior and yet inferior, species.

He probably thinks to himself, 'Jolly strange, what, all that shit-cleaning women do! I'd jolly well hate to do that!'

Heckler · 13/03/2015 14:24

This has now been tweeted by glosswitch andsarah dittum.

I have a load more followers on Twitter (in fact the first time my followers outnumber followees).

What they don't know is that I don't get Twitter. I will be very boring. I need a lesson from mme Lindor.

MmeLindor · 13/03/2015 14:32
