That's an excellent article, and I am so happy Glossy is back.

On stavvers - she jumped the shark as a credible activist a long time ago, and is now organising shark-jumping rodeos amongst her acolytes. Only she has trauma, and boundaries that need to be respected, and feelings. Only her needs as a survivor should be considered. She attacks everyone then plays the victim (of the people she attacked), then of anyone calls her out on it she says her "status as a survivor" is being used against her. Nope, it's her status as an asshole that is being used against her.

I thought this on twitter had got the mood pretty well of how very badly she behaved towards someone disclosing their rape:

Archery yes, I find Stavvers talking about her hands shaking, vomiting etc. in response to being asked to apologise by Rape Crisis South London very strange. It seems like she sincerely feels like this - is it just narcissism, do you think?

Stavvers already has oxygen, OddFodd. I think it's important to someone who has 14 thousand followers, and a platform, to point out when she's talking misogynistic (and often homophobic) nonsense.

Yes, you're probably right Annie. I would just like to celebrate the fact that glosswitch is back without having a whole thread focused on loonspuds.

stavvers seems like a teenager saying stupid and provocative things just to shock. I think she's really childish and tiresome. I hate the way twitter legitamises idiocy. Not having a go at you, just bewailing the nonsense of social media :)

That's fair enough, OddFodd! Also you are right re childish and tiresome. I've met her type before - she's basically Rik from the Young Ones, clueless, relentlessly attention-seeking, tediously middle class (not an insult to anyone else, but relevant here as she is posing as a would-be revolutionary), more edgy than thou, doesn't bother trying to actually change anything, just does performative politicking against soft targets. I think my favourite stavvers moment (the point I unfollowed) was when she went on a rant about how showing photos of books discriminated against the poor, and real poor people had kindles as they didn't have the space for bookshelves. Or something. It wasn't that coherent. That's when I realised she was a batshit armchair-anarchist poseur who hadn't a fucking clue.

But back onto the real issue: Glosswitch is indeed ace. I hope she's managed to set up things whereby that Asshole Who Cannot Be Named can't get at her and her children.

The attacking soft targets is it exactly - rape victims, for instance.

Glosswitch's riposte was splendid - dignified and furious. Her writing has always been good but it gets better and better.

She really said that about poor people and books? Good grief. Yy to Countess and I'm doing it too now!

Yay I'm happy Glosswitch is back. I was really sad when I found out her blog had been taken down.

I don't know who stavvers is but I struggle to take seriously anyone who describes themselves as his.

Yay Glosswitch. WTF is up with Staavers? Glosswitch is a great thinker and writer and thank god this hasn't shut her down. It's really telling when your effect on and response to women's issues is indistinguishable from that of an MRA extremist.

Delighted that Glosswitch is back. I've missed her writing.
