Shall we just have a thread where we put aside any grown-up sensible debate and revel in what a pitiful, unintelligent, bitter, selfish, blind, self-obsessed empathy void of a sad twat Mike Buchanan is? (And frankly, I don't care if this just proves his point that I'm an ugly feminist blah blah blah, because there is no way on earth of winning against a man who just claims everything you say is made up/a lie/doesn't happen anyway! So back to immature name-calling it is!)

I misread it as psychobolocky.

30somethingm · 28/01/2015 19:41

This man talks despicable drivel. The only thing I agree with is at the end of the Mirror article where he says "men are saying ‘nah, forget it'" with regards to marriage. However they are not saying this for the reasons he thinks and a lot of women are also shunning marriage.

30somethingm · 28/01/2015 19:45

Read the Telegraph article about him.

www.telegraph.co.uk/news/general-election-2015/11351485/In-a-womans-world-we-men-need-Mike.html

I have Tory "mates" who think like him, so his views are quite common.

I wrote this post which is kind of about this sort of thing.

In all seriousness though, what this article mostly shows is either,

  1. he hasn't met the same feminists as I have, who have generally been a very jolly bunch
  2. the ones he has met got his number very quickly and failed to find him either funny or interesting. .

Occasionally, I watch his youtube channel, over a nice cup of tea - you know, while the kids are at school, and I'm happily MNtting.

He posts these TV and radio debates on YT actually thinking he looks good in them - because calling women whiny/hatchet faced/liars (take your pick, one of them or all three!) and harking on about Catherine Hakim is really really valid, isn't it?

When everyone else basically (politely) called him a dick to his face - and he publishes it on YT as some kind of victory Grin

I'm sure there's medication he can take for that level of self-delusion...

Quote by the Labour MP: "I don't think you should be playing out your difficulties with women through the political process"

Its nice he makes an arse out himself so we don't have to bother.

I'm not going to link to his blog where I read this because I care for your collective blood pressure too much, you can look it out if you want to, but here's what tells you all you need to know about him. He was on some radio phone-in and having a debate with Caroline Criado-Perez. She made an assertion about something or other and he asked for evidence/figures/citation whatever, but the debate was moved on by the presenter, so she didn't reply. He then says in his blog this is evidence of her being a liar (ALL feminists are ugly, whining liars, all of them) and emails her, uninvited, to ask again for a citation. Given CC-P had previously been bombarded with threats of rape/murder/violence, it's not that surprising she objected to this pillock appearing in her in-box (I'm not saying he was rude/threatening in his email, the point is it was an uninvited direct personal communication, not a debate in the public sphere) and she asks him never to contact her again. He triumphantly reports on his blog this is EVIDENCE that she is lying (he's no lawyer is he?), and not only that, but this also shows she has a princess complex whereby she expects people to do as she orders and 'she should check her privilege'.

WTAF?

Can you imagine how hard his daily life must be, constantly having to interact with women? Going to the shops must be a nightmare! (She didn't smile when she handed me my change! Ugly princess-complex feminist!)

CC-P pointing out the problem in his argument about post-divorce access to children (he thinks women are more suitednaturally to raising families and don't want powerful careers, but also thinks it's unfair that they then end up as primary carers after a divorce) on This Morning was glorious. His face was a picture.

The problem is that he really believes that if he just ignores evidence or says he doesn't believe it, that makes his delusions true.

He's a very sad, angry, bitter man.

SabrinaMulhollandJjones · 29/01/2015 09:57

As well as calling CCP and Laura Bates "liars", he has publicly called Roz Hardie from Women's Aid a 'hatchet faced feminist' - on what planet is such name-calling by a so-called politician ok? Hmm

This comedian did a youtube piece on him, critiquing his "website" - which is long and rambling, but pretty funny.

scallopsrgreat · 29/01/2015 09:58

I think it is very comparable. BNP/UKIP don't just target ethnic groups either. Gay, disabled, women any of the marginalised groups are fair game. They may flower up the language a bit more. But just look at the misogynistic comments too many UKIP members have made. Their underlying beliefs aren't far from the surface.

So do I ifyourehoppy. I suspect it would be very illuminating Grin

Shit Dr Vernon Coleman is a blast from the past. He had a page like a problem page in the Sunday People i think it was. Either in the 80s or 90s.
