I'm not sure what the rules are about linking to petitions, but this petition needs more signatures - it's going to be presented to David Cameron on Thursday and so far is about 3k short of its 40k target.

Please can you sign and share if you haven't already done so (and apologies to MNHQ if this sort of thing is not allowed!)

Just received this email:

Dear SOS supporters,

SOS Campaign Success!
YOU DID IT.

Just four days after we handed in our SOS petition to No.10 the Department for Communities and Local Government has committed to a £10million national fund for refuges. This is fantastic news and will enable our refuges to continue their life-saving work.

This national fund should ensure the immediate future of our world-leading network of refuges. Women’s Aid is delighted to welcome this commitment, made by the Government as a direct result of the SOS Save Refuges, Save Lives campaign. It is vital however, that this fund is matched with a commitment to exploring a new model of funding for refuges that supports them in the long-term and we call on the Government to commit to this.

Women’s Aid launched the SOS Save Refuges, Save Lives campaign in September this year in an attempt to halt and rev erse the decimation of the national network of refuges through vicious funding cuts and problematic commissioning processes. The campaign called on the Government to commit to protecting our national network of specialist refuges and to exploring a new model of funding and commissioning that supports a sustainable services and high quality care.

We are pleased the Government has listened to our SOS, taken note of the support from our 38 Degrees petition and has heard the voices of survivors of domestic violence and the services that protect them.

Thank you for your support – we couldn’t have done this without you.

Women's Aid

Good news. Thanks for the OP, Lovecat Smile
