Women are like men, only cheaper

Women are like men, only cheaper, according to an Australian speaker at a conference for tech start-ups.

Actually, women often need to be a lot better than men, not just like them. (Which he sort of acknowledges, because it seems he had a lot more women working for him when he started his company than was average, and he acknowledges they were good, and he could give them more responsibility - but that still doesn't make it acceptable to pay them less.)

Do you have a link for that report at all?

Yep there is a link, the information is from Oxfam Australia. Embedded in the page, is a link to a pdf you can download if you want more information:

www.oxfam.org.au/2014/07/75-years-to-achieve-equal-pay-is-too-long/

The pdf is a really good resource if you are interested in reading more about the pay gap, and how it much it disadvantages women. There are some really interesting stats on the US, UK, Australia, etc taken from the G20. I can recall being very shocked at the information it imparted when I read it a few months ago.

Um, MNHQ, you might want to know the images on the deleted post from 09:37 are still showing when I access it via my smartphone (as I tend to during the day, because MN is a bit too sweary for work's internet filters.)
