What makes me sad is that there are women who are defending him. He did it because his wife nags him. He did it because he was drunk. He only retweeted other people's rape and death threats. The women he threatened in some way invited/enjoyed/were ok with his threats because they retweeted them. The women who reported his activities to the police are police informants and therefore not to be trusted.

A nagging wife doesn't make men go on twitter and post rape threats against other women. It's not even an excuse to make rape threats against the woman doing the nagging.

Being drunk is no excuse for anything.

He didn't only retweet others rape threats, he made threats of his own, he created several accounts on twitter in order to retweet his own and others threats to several women over a period of several weeks. He boasted about creating new accounts to be able to stalk women and threaten them.

I should imagine that the several women he threatened retweeted his threats because they were not being believed. Or they had had enough, or felt seriously threatened by them.

The last thing is beyond my comprehension. Several men are making endless threats against you, but you shouldn't take it to the police? If you do, you're a police informant and can't be trusted? This shows that the people making this claim have no clue what a police informant is.... It's not someone who reports a crime to the rozzers, it's a criminal who informs on his fellow criminals in the hope of leniency. Are they accusing CCP, SC and others of being criminals, complicit in the threats?

Why do women do this? Why do they collude with the basest misogynists against other women?

Sorry, bit of an essay, but I'm completely flummoxed about it.

Scallops, I don't think anyone with an ounce of sense or credibility could imagine that Buccanon* is in any way respectable, oppressed or anything other than a sad little misogynist.

He really did cross off all the "arsehole" items on his shopping list:

  • "satire" - tick
  • "just a joke" - tick
  • "free speech" - tick
  • "you should take it as a compliment" - tick
  • calling the women he sent rape threats to by their first names, "Stella" and "Caroline", like they are mates - tick (also, ugh)

Hope he goes down. What a knobhead.

And yes, really depressing that there are some women (as well as the usual MRAs) lining up to defend him.

The part I don't understand is ff he had walked up to her in the street and said those things to her, he would surely have been arrested? Why is it suddenly an infringement of his free speech to not be allowed to make threats of violence online?

Would his partner still be defending him if she had stood there in the street and listened to him tell her all the horribly violent things he wanted to do to her, for the huge crime of believing women should be equally represented on our currency?

Men like this don't understand what rape is because they don't have to live in the shadow of it. Rape is not a joke or satire anymore than terrorism is. His right to free speech does not trump her right to not be raped or threatened with rape. He really must be a pathetic excuse for a human not to get this.

TunipTheUnconquerable · 03/09/2014 14:28

He basically seems to be trying to weasel out of it by coming up with any excuse he can possibly think of, which makes him come across as rather a pathetic excuse for a human being, as well as a misogynist.
