A small rant

I watched Heat again the other night. I've loved it in the past. Great performances, Pacino vs De Niro, blah blah blah. And something occurred to me.

Heat is about the lives of men*. How they have adventures, and their relationships with each other.

The women in Heat serve merely as stereotypes to show quite how shitty the bad guys are, and how great the good(ish) guys. Young prostitute murdered by her client, battered wife, adoring girlfriend, neglected wife, loving but troubled teenage stepdaughter who has been let down by her (shitty) dad.

I spent a long time ignoring or being unaware of women's place in the world, and feminist issues. Now I can't stop having my nose rubbed in to how women are not actually people, unlike men.

* Other films are available

As far as Josie Cunningham goes, the petition signers are being rather naive. They are just bringing her more notoriety, and increasing her chances at appearing on BB!

Gatorade haven't seen avengers yet. Understand the Hmm over that.

On a good note though, on agents of shield one other positive is that May isn't only female, but played by an actress on the verge of bring 50, if not already there.

Wasn't the Loki-Black Widow conversation just Loki completely underestimating her, the mewling quim line showing that it was because she was a woman? Whereas the whole time she had the upper hand and got exactly what she wanted from him?

We already know from earlier in the film that that is how she interrogates people, she won that exchange, Loki lost.

I've not seen the film but recognise the phrase - it's from Chaucer.

I had to give up on Agents of Shield after the second episode when Coulson meets an old colleague in Peru - she's supposedly a senior military figure and yet subjected to lingering boob shots while she wears a tight white vest (while IIRC Coulson still wears s full suit, other male military figures are in full uniform etc). I felt quite let down by it.
