Apologies if this has been done but I have just come across this online, it is a high fashion spread of women apparently under attack from men. Or lying bloody on the floor. Italian Vogue have said it was their intention to raise awareness of dv but it strikes me as harmful glamourisation of violence against women.

If you are as disturbed as I am ease consider tweeting or emailing [email protected] to express your feelings.

I have asked for a formal statement of apology and space given in the next issue for an Italian Women's said group to respond.

Apparently they were advised to speak to survivor's groups but didn't...

We've all seen this before - fashion mag prints photos glamourising violence (esp. against women) purely for publicity and then claim it's for a good cause (except no money raised for said cause!) or that it's art, and thus beyond reproach (disagree on this too). Or, even more transparent, the 'raising awareness' claim.

Everybody knows that DV happens. Normalising (for that also IS what this is) can only make matters worse. The very least they could have done (if raising awareness was truly their intention) is accompany the photos with some (verifiable) statistics, although my personal view is that printing them at all is glamourisation, is grossly offensive, and deeply upsetting for victims/survivors.

The fashion industry disgusts me.
