What's it about? Don't really want to click on a link without knowing what to expect.

JazzAnnNonMouse · 08/02/2014 16:51

Sorry, it's a French video about gender reversal -I thought it was quite good but wondered what other/more educated people thought Smile

Watched it all the way through - really interesting.

JazzAnnNonMouse · 08/02/2014 17:07

I thought it was worth a share on fb etc

That was fantastic. It looked so wrong, and it highlighted how much we put up with or take for granted as being just the way things are because we are used to it.

He looked so vulnerable and so much of it hit a nerve.

Thank you for sharing, I am popping on my Facebook

BOFtastic · 08/02/2014 17:08

I posted this in here yesterday and nobody replied to the thread

MothratheMighty · 08/02/2014 17:08

I've already shared it on FB, I thought it was very thought-provoking. Even some of my unaware friends might have a thought or too. So thank you OP.

MothratheMighty · 08/02/2014 17:09

Bloody hell, how poorly phrased was that last post of mine?
Multitasking not a strength here, I like to break stereotypes.

BOFtastic · 08/02/2014 17:11

I thought it was excellent and have been sharing it all over the place too. I guess my face just doesn't fit in here Grin.

scallopsrgreat · 08/02/2014 17:25

Oh this the same video you posted about BOF? Good only one to watch Grin Time is short at the moment! I'll watch it this evening hopefully.

very good, thanks for the link

BriarRainbowshimmer · 08/02/2014 18:18

It's good, however I think to drive the point home further the women could've looked larger (fatter, more muscular etc) and more rugged with loose, practical clothing and the men could've been thinner (from constant dieting, there is a particularly strong pressure in France for women to be thin) worn longer hair, makeup, more decorative restrictive clothing.

JazzAnnNonMouse · 08/02/2014 20:36

Wouldn't that have just shown what does happen but with clothes switched?
I thought it was all the more powerful for having an average looking man and all the women -more juxtaposition?

BriarRainbowshimmer · 08/02/2014 21:16

Well since it shows reverse sexism, I thought it would add to it to show how gendered and power-based clothes and appearance are too. They did bring it up - but only with a hijab.

JazzAnnNonMouse · 09/02/2014 01:36

That's true although they did the 'slutshaming'etc with his shorts and flip flops.

Yes, I've always found it useful to reverse genders. My sister and I as teenagers read the Enid Blyton famous 5 books out loud to each other with the genders reversed - very interesting exercise.

JazzAnnNonMouse · 09/02/2014 10:18

That's interesting Laura - I always thought of the famous five etc as being quite 'girls can do anything boys can do too' and just being about children not gender?
I shall have to re read!

Good video (though uncomfortable). The little touch of him checking and adjusting his clothing was very accurate. I am constantly doing this, especially when I used to wear school/work uniforms; always checking that boobs/crack/too much thigh weren't showing so you couldn't be accused of asking for it.

The comments are HORRIBLE. There are a few people patiently interacting but so many men either saying the vid is crap and exaggerated, that they don't recognise any of this behaviour IRL (er, no shit, sherlock, you're a man!), or that they'd absolutely love to be groped by women all day long. Plenty of dickheads banging on about how much worse men have it because women get child support and get to push in to the front of queues Confused

Sad it's not a competition.

LauraBridges · 09/02/2014 15:13

Anne is blonde and pretty and doesn't do the rough things the boys do. The mother at home is always serving food whilst only the father works. It's sexist all the way through except for the Tom boy George. We certainly found it so 30 years ago anyway so I hope girls today find the same.

Pendeen · 09/02/2014 15:51

"Yes, I've always found it useful to reverse genders. My sister and I as teenagers read the Enid Blyton famous 5 books out loud to each other with the genders reversed - very interesting exercise"

The days must have simply flown by.

LimeMiniPumpkin · 09/02/2014 16:03

That was really mean. Lots of people read outloud for fun, change bits, add in voices etc.

Gender swap is one of the most popular forms of fanfic.

KerryKatonasKhakis · 09/02/2014 16:44

And ridiculing anonymous posters on an internet forum is fun, Pendeen ?

Know who I'd rather spend time with.

JuliaScurr · 09/02/2014 17:03

good video- makes the point
not totally sure about the headscarf section given the rl situation in France
and Pendeen - unhelpful. really.
