Feminism: Sex and gender discussions

Anyone seen/planning to see the play "Blurred Lines" at the National?

My feminist dd (14 yo) picked up a leaflet and wants me to bring her and her two feminist friends (15 yo) to it. I'm all for encouraging teen feminists (god knows there aren't enough of them...) and the play sounds really good... (see Timeout review www.timeout.com/london/theatre/blurred-lines)

BUT... the age limit is 15 ... I'd like to know if anyone has seen it and if there is anything likely to be disturbing/unsuitable?

In particular, taking other people's kids to something like that could be a bit awkward. I don't know the parents although I gather that one of the mums objects to feminism as an implicit criticism of her own choice to be SAHM.

Any thoughts on whether I should take them? Confused

I would like to go but live too far away.

I hope you do manage to take your teen feminists, they sound great.

Offer the mum a ticket as well. Maybe she can be assimilated Grin

Absolutely you need to get the permission of the friend's Mum's, it just has to be that way.

but it might be a great opportunity for a chat over a cuppa to explain that her choice to be a SAHM is in no way a reflection on her ability to be a feminist or to agree with equality. She might take your arguments above her daughter who may not be able to eloquently articulate that concept.

Yes, to asking her along too.

left it too lateShock Shock All sold out!!
Have arranged with the teen feminists that we will try to call for day tickets (but I'm not confident we will get them)
Reluctant mum did give her permission; still slightly nervous that content might be a bit strong .
oh well not much chance of actually getting those tickets

Are you close to town? If so you can get returns in the morning from 10am on a first come first serve basis.

NO idea what it is about but in a general way, if something is certified 15 and they are 15.. I'd feel no reluctance. I mean depending on content it might be one of those really super awkward moments between you and your daughter though. Congratulations on raising a feminist teenager though, I am hoping to do the same one day :)
