I don't get why people think that being sensitive to the porblems and horrors of the issue, should mean tolerating bad science and made up pseudo-statistics.
The report was about an off-hand statement by a politician using the term "99%" in the sense of "most", with no evidence or stated basis whatsoever, about a specific prostitution scene in one area. It was that turned into the title for this thread in a way that makes it look like it's a statement of fact not just about that area, but about prostitution in general.
People need to understand that idiotic or cynical misuse of pretend statistics like this WEAKENS the fight against social ills, rather than strengthening it. It makes it look like those supporting that fight are idiots or just inventing a complaint that has no basis in reality. That actually makes it much easier to dismiss the issue itself.
Personally, I think human trafficking is one of the most despicable things that exists, and I'm dismayed that it does still exist in the modern western world. I don't need made up "statistics" that can very quickly be shown to be total BS to believe that, and I can't see how they help.
