Research on witnesses to select committees in Parliament...?

I have been told that apparently some research has been done on how representative of the UK population witnesses giving evidence to select committees in Parliament are. Witnesses are very often white men in their 40s and 50s. It seems to me that there is a direct parallel to the representation of women as reporters, presenters or interviewees on Radio 4's Today Programme.

The research apparently might be by the Hansard Society, but I can't find it there.

Any pointers anyone? Thanks in advance!

I can't help I'm afraid but it sounds interesting so if you do find it it would be great if you posted a link!

Thank you for replies. I have done more looking round the Hansard Soc's website, and delving into a few of their likely publications, and still can't find it, so have dropped Ruth Fox a line. I will post the link if she gets back to me!

I have been a witness at two SC.
I got the feeling selection is about how visible you are.
