What an amazing, brave child.
I hope she doesn't suffer lasting health problems now that she's stable.
How can anyone shoot a child?

Evil fuckers. Not sure if the pic on the bbc site is necessary though

This is a terrible story and a terrible situation, that women can just be shot for speaking up for themselves is bad enough but to think that it can actually happen to a child seems even more outrageous.

I can't understand why there isn't more publicity about this, why more people aren't commenting on it. We are normally outraged by people who hurt children - is this too far away for normal people to feel it affects them? I would like to force every girl in the land who will be concerned ths week about X Factor or prom dresses etc to read this!!!

I saw that. I'm so shocked. Brave girl.

Bastards total evil bastards. Hate filled bullying fuckers..

To shoot a defenceless child.. Big men aye..

The evil psychopaths hiding their actions as religious truths is shocking.

LRDtheFeministDragon · 11/10/2012 06:35

Gosh, that must have been difficult for the girl in your class, too - terrifying.

thebody - yes. Who could deliberately shoot a child?

rosabud · 11/10/2012 06:53

I presume they don't see her as a child - do you think that their mysogyny is so great that it is OK to start treating females badly as soon as they reach puberty? Perhaps that is why they didn't attack her when she was 11?

It suggests an extreme kind of fear and mistrust of female sexuality/ maturity. Why are these extremists so afraid of women?? Have they never been in love? Have they never had a positive relationship with a woman? Apologies if that's a bit naive but I don't understand it at all.

LRDtheFeministDragon · 11/10/2012 07:07

Oh, that's an awful (but I'm sure very true) point. Sad

thebody · 11/10/2012 08:44

Rosabud, yes agree with your point and its jaw droppingly dreadful and frightening.

It would be fantastic to think as many women and girls would leave their classrooms at an appointed time, join together , light a candle and show support for the plight of those who have no rights to education.

rosabud · 16/10/2012 14:09

Well the London Eye went pink on Thursday evening in support of girls' education world-wide, along with Niagra Falls and the Pyramids apparently, though I think that was planned long before this incident. (And, also, did it HAVE to be pink??)

I am really surprised that this issue has not received more coverage in schools and that people are not talking about it with more outrage. Perhaps there is a feeling of helplessess, of what can we do about it?

firefly11 · 16/10/2012 21:08

Poor girl.
