Anyone else listen to the feature on post natal rcovery and care this morning, notice that breastfeeding was not even mentioned? They were on about a 6 week recovery period, which I had no notion of... I was always told by my mw and hv that it takes 9 month to gestate a baby, and another 9 month to recover. There was no analysis of physiological changes such as shrinking uterus, establishing breastfeeding, rediness for resumption of sexual intercourse and menstrual cycles. instead it was discussion of women comparing themselves to media portrayal of celebrities. Whilst the media issue is important, challenging it would be for more sucessful if we were informed from a more factual speaker.

I am annoyed by the superficial way these issues are sometimes treated on women's hour, and don't often listen to it.....won't be switching on again for a while...

didn't they ask for a MNetter to contribute?

Must go and listen to it.

It's always about looks and dropping the baby weight isn't it? I mean how many magazines praise women for being ab-tastic three months after giving birth? Angry I'm yet to have a child but surely that isn't healthy? Or natural?

i havent heard it yet, i'll get it next week on a podcast. womens hour is one of the best programms on the radio, were they not simply deal with one issue in depth and what they diddnt mention is for another programm?

when my OH had our boys she was also told that it takes 9 months to get over a pregnacy but that doesnt mean you cant work when your pregnant or that you cant go back to work after 6 weeks if you feel up to it.
