on grounds of sexist and racist discrimination

Apparently, the club has had many complaints over recent years, and as a result, a ban has been placed on the club for the academic year 2012/2013. Nice to see that the UEA Union is finally taking these complaints seriously, and lets hope they continue to challenge sexism and racism in the university.

It's a shame that is has to come to this, because I know someone who is a student at UEA, and it is generally accepted that isn't the whole team exhibiting this behavior.

Sadly that means those who didn't get punished too.

Don't get me wrong, I support the decision, but it's a shame innocent people get punished too.

In addition by the sounds of it, it is the whole team ethos that is enabling this behaviour. It is systematic. I think it is pretty good of UEA to realise this and more importantly do something about it.

It would be great if they tackled the American Football team about their similar attitudes towards women, but starting with rugby is a brilliant step forward. I do agree that the individual players who stomped all over the bounds of taste and decency should have been further punished, but also that it is endemic to the club as a whole. I left UEA more than 3 years ago so it is likely that the whole team and committee is entirely different now than it was then, but the 'shock tactics' of trying to out- bad taste each other for fancy dress nights and the general machismo was strong then, so I can only assume it is something which is passed on, or encouraged every year so just carries on and grows.
