The growth of MRA's

I thought this article is a sobering and scary one.

This is what women are up against. These groups are a direct result of some men being so outraged by their relatively small loss of privilege due to the gains of feminism, that they are prepared to kill and injure to get revenge on women.

We haven't yet got groups like these in the UK. But we will have, maybe in a decade or so. When women line up with MRA's who come to troll these boards, they should be aware of the nature of the monster they are feeding.

On that note I'm off to bed but it's not because I'm posting and running, it's because it's late so will be back tomorrow if anyone is interested in discussing this.

Lots of connections between MRAs and so-called libertarians on-line. Would love to see the Venn diagram.

I don't think such mindsets are very far from flourishing in the UK. They are around us already. One only has to look at the comments on social networking sites, including MN.

The Raoul Moats of this world, the Family Annihalators, the RL hounding of Feminist commentators that dare to speak out about some men's abuse of women.

The people that support them are all around us too. The FB fan groups, the colluding and rationalising that goes on day after day.

It is scary, but more scary that so many otherwise-intelligent people appear to not be able to see it.

It doesn't surprise me in the least that there is a crossover between MRAs and far-right groups. Both organisations appeal to failures who want to blame their wretched lives on anyone but themselves. Their thinking process is along the lines of 'I am a White Male therefore I belong to a Superior Class. The fact that I am not being obeyed and respected is not because I am a four-square dickhead, but is a Feminist/Non-White conspiracy against me having my rightful status'.

It is scary, but more scary that so many otherwise-intelligent people appear to not be able to see it.

Yes this is why it's disturbing to see so many women, line up with men who have the deep seated beliefs of these nobbers (even if they don't realise they have) to bash feminists just because they don't like our discourse.

The battle for liberation has not been won. Look what's happening in America, it is horrifying the discourse and actions around abortion (non)rights. People have a very complacent assumption that the rights we've won, are permanent and unchanging, but they're not - they're constantly under siege, misogynists will find ways to attack us in other ways if they can't do it directly. So they can't insist on us giving up work when we marry, so they attack us via our children - demand 50 50 care and control on separation, while not having done a scrap of parenting while actually in the relationship and pretending that it's about the children's welfare, so that the unwary will think they have a point and not see the real agenda there.

We can't afford to give these dangerous men house-room and yet so many women do, because they just don't realise the danger to them and their daughters.

You've reminded me of a van I saw parked in my local high street. It was an ordinary work van but on the doors at the back it said "why Britain hates men, what Feminism has done to our country" and a website link. I was speechless. It's one thing coming across them on the Internet and writing them off as inadequates but seeing it in real life, just round the corner from my house actually made me feel unsafe, as though all those rights I take for granted could be lost to me tomorrow
