Gah Angry this made me so angry. The poor "rich" men who are so taken by these harlots they completely forget they also hold the key to looking after their own contraception.
The poor men are lured into bed, unprotected.

So, So, angry.

(I read feminism a lot, and have learned A LOT but I may have only posted one or two times. Hi!)

I was interested to hear what people thought TBE, there's no need to be so condescending. Not using condoms within a marriage IS a form of trust.

math - yes, obviously vasectomy would be the way to go. I was just giving a scenario. And yes, I have deviated a little from the subject...I agree that the men in those cases SHOULD have worn condoms, but I was raising the point that some women do deliberately try to become pregnant, so the article may have had an element of truth to it.

Not using condoms in marriage and expecting your partner to take the responsibility for contraception all the time is a form of taking the piss, imo. But horses for courses. If it has been discussed and all parties are fine with it then it's none of my business.

But for a grown man having sex with some ravishing young piranha, sorry, a condom is essential. Even a not so well off man, and not so old either. Nothing to do with trust. It's common sense. If it is so self evident Hmm that some women do deliberately try to get pregnant then it should make even more sense to use a condom.

The article was the most scurrilous piece of misogyny I have ever read. I thought I could predict what it might say based on where it came from, but I am gobsmacked at the hatred and fear.

That article was dreadful and so inaccurate Angry

Er, as far as I'm aware the current advice on contraception is very much 'belt and braces' - so condoms AND the pill/coil/injection/whatever. That's even if you're in a long-term relationship.

You don't want kids? Double up, sweetpea.

Who are these men who think 'well, I don't know her so well, I haven't known her that long, but a condom? A CONDOM?! Don't be so bloody ridiculous'? Who are these people who don't go to the GUM clinic before flinging barrier contraceptives to the wind?

Half of me doesn't think they exist - they're just made up by the DM so that they can perpetuate the myth that we're all harlots who just want to suck the cash from the bank accounts of men (because men hold all the money, natch).

GeekCool · 07/02/2012 09:15

I wonder if these men are so incapable of looking after their own contraception, what are the chances they get tested regularly for STD's? (The women too). Pregnancy isn't the only complication of unprotected sex, but articles like this never mention that.

And saying "some" women will try to get pregnant is such a cop out. Give me a statistic, a number. "Some" means what? 5,10,100,10,000? Are we in the grips of an epidemic? But of course, it's a non story with no aim other than to bash women yet again. No basis of fact. Nicely done by having a female lawyer being the one doing the talking, so they "can't" be accused of women bashing. It really should be renamed Daily Fail.
