I haven't really posted here before, but lurk a bit and thought some of you might have some recommendations...

My DD is 3, her favourite colour is blue and she's most comfortable in tracksuit trousers. She's just starting to have an issue with boys at her nursery telling her she's wearing boys clothes, or saying certain games are for boys. The nursery is supportive and will challenge it when they see it, but I'm looking for some books to read with her. Anything that addresses gender stereotypes, or more generally about individuals making their own choices- any ideas?

Princess Smartypants by Babette Cole. Great picture book about a tough princess who doesn't want to marry a prince. Will have a think about some more for you.

Peppa Pig Smile - my boys love the fire engine one where the mums are the fire fighters and put out the fire that the dads caused by having a BBQ!

Quite a few others in that vein!

Free to be you and me is the old skool American 'be who you want' book.

Zog by Julia Donaldson is v popular with my 2 yr old dd and my 4 yr old ds, it's got dragons, knights and a princess who 'rescues' herself, becomes a doctor and trains up the knight to be a doctor too. Plus it's fun to read which is good cos we have it every night Hmm

I also recommend Zog. My DD and I love it when Princess Pearl refuses to be rescued.

Kes Gray & Nick Sharratt, the Daisy books.

The Paper Bag Princess by Robert Munsch - same guy who wrote Love You Forever. Also Stephanie's Ponytail by the same author. Both have brilliant, strong, resourceful young girls as the main characters.
